Title: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Author: Stephen Chbosky

Brief summary of plot: Charlie's not the geek of the school but he's not popular either! Meet Charlie, a wallflower, meaning that he stands on the threshold of his life while watching everyone else live theirs. When will he learn that he has to live HIS life? Life's too short.

Strengths: Descriptive

Weaknesses: No clear plot to story

Personal response: The story is described really well, although there is no real plot, this makes the story unattractive for audience.

Genre: Teen-fic

Action: The majority of the action takes place in Charlie's friends and families' house.

The author, Stephen Chbosky, made me feel gripped at the start and the end but the middle was not very juicy because there didn't seem to be a clear plot.

Main characters: Charlie, Sam and Patrick. These characters are very believable as they are school children- about my age.

Writing style: 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' is written in a very unique way. The story is written in separate letters and he addresses the reader as 'friend'. i thought this was quite an interesting way to lay out a story. One thing to criticise is the letters are written around 24 years ago but they seem so up to date.

Overall opinion: A very relatable novel, but missing a story line.
