Title: Thirteen Reasons Why
Author: Jay Asher
Brief summary of plot: Clay Jensen returns home to find a mysterious package sitting on his doorstep. He soon finds out that it is a set of tapes from a friend who had committed suicide earlier, Clay was one of the reasons why.
Strengths: A very intriguing book.
Weaknesses: Hard to understand the ending.
Personal response: I had no major feelings to characters either than Clay and Hannah and I can empathise how Clay feels.
Genre: Mystery/tragedy
Action: The action, most of it, takes place in locations that are plotted on Hannah's map.
The author,Jay Asher, made me feel gripped all the way through!
Main characters: Clay Jensen and Hannah Baker. These characters are totally believable, hands down. This is because it resembles features of some children these days.
Writing: 'Thirteen Reasons Why' is written in the 1st and the 3rd person, which is a great and unique way of writing a novel, especially for such a sensitive topic. I liked the idea of the tapes and the interview at the end.
Jay's inspiration for this novel was very interesting!
Overall opinion: A very sensitive topic to write a novel about. Loved it,cried at it but would love to read it again!
