Bethany's POV.
Eleanor and Dawn were helping me out to the car when a wave of nausea hit me and I pulled away. After a minute I had finished and turned back around to the girls. They all looked concerned before they came to help me back to the car. I eased myself into the backseat and Dawn sat beside me. She handed me a basin and gave me a sympathetic smile. I attempted to smile back before the headache I had earlier made a return. I closed my eyes and leaned back against the headrest, groaning softly.
" Bethany, can you tell me your symptoms so I can tell the doctor at the hospital?" Eleanor asked, turning around in the passenger seat. I forced my eyes open and started to tell her.
" Uhm, headache, nausea, bad pains across my stomach and slightly blurred vision." I hoarsed. After I listed that out, I had an idea of what could be happening. And judging by the sudden widening of Eleanor's hazel eyes, so did she.
" You don't think...?" She trailed off. I shook my head back at her, causing the pain in my head to worsen. I really hoped that our guesses weren't right. I layed my head back again and tried to relax, knowing that stress made it worse. I could feel the nausea returning and I leaned over the basin before I was sick again. Dawn rubbed soothing circles on my back before I sat back again.
" How much longer until we're there?" Dawn asked Perrie for me.
" We're here now." She replied as she turned into the hospital.
" Wait here, I'll get a wheelchair." El told me. I started to protest before she gave me a warning glance. I watched her run into the hospital and anger overwhelmed the pain I was feeling as I saw Harry rush towards her. I groaned and turn to Dawn, " Get rid of him." She looked at me sadly as the door beside me opened. I reluctantly turned towards it and saw Harry's concerned face.
" Go awa-" I was cut off as another round of nausea hit me and I found myself leaning over the basin again. My headache had intensified because of it making me cringe in pain.
" Bethany.... please. We can't do this now, you need to get into the hospital." I tried to resist but I knew it was dangerous the longer I waited. I weakly nodded and allowed him to guide me into the wheelchair. He leaned down to whisper in me ear as he all but ran into the hospital, " It'll be okay. You and the babies are gonna be fine." I think he was more trying to reassure himself than me. As soon as we entered the hospital, we were greeted by nurses. I was brought into the room and helped up onto the bed. Dr.Rae came beside me and started talking.
" Okay, Bethany. Your friend outside has given me your symptoms but I'd like you to confirm them for me again alright?" I told her the same thing I told El and then asked if Harry could come in. I hated him but I needed him by my side tonight. She turned and asked for Harry to be brought in. Within seconds, he had rushed through the door and was sitting next to me. I could tell he was reluctant to touch me so I held out my hand which he eagerly grasped. Dr.Rae took a blood sample and my blood pressure. Only furthering my guess to be correct.
" I'm going to preform an ultrasound and a Doppler scan. Can you bring the equipment in, please?" She asked the nurse beside her.
" Do you know what's wrong?" Harry asked.
" There are a few things that could be happening. I'm just performing a few tests to narrow it down. As soon as I know, you'll know." She told us. A moment later the equipment was brought in and I pulled up my jumper and top for the gel to be applied. I sucked in a breath due it's cold temperature and Harry rubbed circles on the back of my hand.
" You guys ready to see your babies?" She asked. I looked at Harry and he looked at me while a smile came across his lips. I managed to return as small one. We both returned our attention to the screen as a grainy image appeared. I quickly glanced at Harry in time to see a tear run down his cheek. Before he caught me looking, I turned back towards the screen.
" So here, is baby A and this is baby B. They're both growing normally and are healthy as far as we can see. You're 12 weeks and 5 days. Another 3-4 weeks and you can find out the gender if you'd like. Now I'm going to do the Doppler scan." About twenty minutes later, all of the tests were done and Harry and I were left alone while the doctor went to get the results. I turned to Harry, " I'm scared. What if somethings really wrong? I'm such a bad mother!" I started to cry. They had given me pain relief and anti-sickness tablets when I arrived so I felt a lot better physically.
" Shhhh. Never, ever say that. You're a wonderful mother. This is all my fault. If I hadn't put all of this stress on you, everything would be fine. I'm so so sorry, Beth. When we leave, I promise I'll explain everything." I just nodded in reply and he put his hand on top of mine that was resting on my bump. We sat silently for a few minutes until the doctor returned.
" Okay. So the test results have given the evidence that you have chronic hypertension. This means that you blood pressure is quite high. This can cause less blood to flow through the placenta to the babies, delivering less oxygen and fewer nutrients. It also increases risks for preeclampsia, stillbirth, placental abruption to name a few." My fears were confirmed.
" What can we do?" I asked, sensing Harry was in a slight state of shock.
" Well, you appear to have only a mild cause, your symptoms were more severe due to stress and exhaustion. For now, we will increase your appointments, prescribe you blood pressure lowering tablets and I will suggest you rest and have someone with almost all of the time. Try to avoid salty foods and strenuous activity of any kind until we know some more. Drink plenty of fluids."
" Can you write that down? I don't want to forget anything." Harry spoke up, startling me. The doctor smiled at him for becoming involved.
"Of course. Will you be staying with her?" Before I could say otherwise, Harry nodded. I turned to look at him angrily. He bent down to whisper in my ear, "Please. I know I don't deserve it but give me another chance and hear me out later. " I really wasn't in the mood to argue, especially in front of the doctor so I nodded and turned around.
" I'm putting you on bedrest for a week at least until our next appointment. I'll make a house call this day next week. Any problems, don't hesitate to call me. Here is your prescription and you can go whenever you'd like. Just follow the instructions carefully." She smiled at both of us and shook Harry's hand before leaving.
" Can we go now?" I asked Harry. He nodded and left to get the wheelchair. I called my mum to tell her what happened and she told me to call her if I needed her and she'd be on the next flight. Just after I ended the call Harry came back in, " I told everyone what the doctor said and they're going to call in tomorrow if you're feeling up for it." I thanked him and he helped to settle me into the wheelchair again. We left the hospital only to be greeted by hoardes of paparazzi.
" Why are you in the hospital?"
" Are you back together?"
Questions were fired at us as the security held them back. ' This really is just what I needed. Could this day get any worse?' I thought to myself.
We managed to get into Harry's car in one piece. He left the wheelchair for security to bring back in and we drove away. It's my first time in his car in weeks. And it's going to be my first time returning to out house since that night.
