CHAPTER 5: True Colors

I was in the kitchen when the phone rang.

"Hello?"

"I know your secret," Bucky said from the other line. I froze in my spot, and made sure to sound convincing.

"Secret? What are you saying about?" on the inside I was freaking out, but I knew lying now wouldn't help me.

"Sam told me you like Tony Stark, I mean I don't care do whatever you want. But, let me just tell you something about Tony. All he cares about is school, his mom, and his friend Bruce," he said.

I'm confused, that doesn't sound horrible. If anything, it makes him sound perfect to me.

"Is that bad?"

"But if you like him...whatever I mean I could talk to him for you if you want," Bucky suggested and I smiled.

"Really? You would do that, I mean nothing embarrassing though right?" I asked.

"Oh no trust me, I know exactly how to play it," he said and I smiled. Wow, I didn't think he would be so cool about this.

"But wait, aren't you so mad at Sam for telling me?" he asked and I thought about it.

"No,"

"Because if you are you can tell me, it was a pretty douche move," he said and I replied, "Yeah it was pretty douchey, but I'm not mad I guess he just likes the attention,"

"See Sam! I told you he's not mad at you!" Bucky said. I froze, "I can't believe you called me a douche!" I heard Sam and he hung up.

"Ok, see you tomorrow!" Bucky exclaimed happily then hung up. I gasped and put the phone down.

I survived my first three way calling attack, and with Bucky's blessing I started talking to Tony more and more. On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was.

"It's October third," I replied and he thanked me and turned back around to face the board.

Two weeks later, we spoke again.

"It's raining," he said looking at the large windows behind me,

"Yeah," I replied.

But, I wanted things to move faster. So I followed my instincts. We had the projector on, and I was determined.

I tapped him on the shoulder and he turned around, "Hey, I'm totally lost, can you help me?" I asked. "Yeah," he replied.

But I wasn't lost, I knew exactly what Ms. Hill was talking about.

"It's a factorial, so you multiply each one by n,"

Wrong.

"Is that the summation?"

"Yeah it's the same thing," he said and it was cute how he didn't know.

"Thanks, I get it now," I said smiling and the bell rang and the lights turned back on.

"We're having a Halloween party at my friend Bruce's tonight, you wanna come?" he asked and I was stunned.

"Yeah, sure," I replied.

"Great, here's where it is," he said handing me the address.

"It's a costume party, people get pretty into it,"

"Ok,"

"That flier admits one person only, so don't bring some other guy with you," he said and I blushed.
