Rylan groaned, trying to fully wake up. It was his day off, he should get to sleep in.At least a little bit. Why wouldn't his phone stop ringing?
"Hayward." He answered curtly.
"Finally. Rylan, I've been trying to reach you all morning." The chief said with harshness in her voice.
"I'm heavy sleeper and it's my day off. What do you need?" Rylan yawned sitting up against the headboard.
"There's something we need to talk about.... Nori Ryo has been staying with you for the last five days, correct?"
"Of course. Why?" Rylan asked.
"Rylan. I understand Mr. Ryo's situation.... But I can't let this go on any longer."
"What are you talking about?"
"As I'm sure you know. Victims can form unhealthy attachments to the rescuers..... You know this can be very unsafe." She started.
"Nori doesn't have an attachment to me."
"Either you can't see it, or it hasn't happened yet. But it has to stop before hand. Nori needs to be out of your apartment by the end of the day, or I will send someone to collect him."
"We can't just put him back out on his own." Rylan argued.
"Mr. Ryo is an adult. I'm sure he can stay on his own. Or find some family to stay with." Sue's Voice was firm. She couldn't let the two of them get attached to each other. Rylan was protective over Nori enough. He had to be out of the picture as soon as possible, no matter what happens to him. This situation couldn't get out to the press, or Max's reputation would be ruined. If Rylan hadn't of found the kid she wouldn't have to be covering this all up.
More importantly if Max hadn't gotten caught.
"He's a 20-year-old kid who was kidnapped by a psychopath!" Rylan countered.
"That's enough Rylan. You can not talk about Max that way. He has rights just like everyone else."
"Rights?! Someone should bloody shoot him!"
"You have your orders. Nori isn't allowed to have any contact with you and vice versa."
Rylan wasn't able to protest anymore or else Sue would demote him.... which she had been looking for a reason to do so for quite a while. Rylan tossed his phone on the edge of the bed and rubbed his temples.
How could the chief of police be defending Maximum? Why did it matter so much if Nori stayed here? It wasn't hurting anything.
Nori walked into the room, since it had fallen on him to wake Rylan up in the morning. He was kind of shocked to see the heavy sleeper up already.
"Morning love.... The two of us need to talk about something." He sighed.
Nori tilted his head and went to sit next to him. It was strange to see Rylan who is always so happy, seeming so down. He almost seemed hesitant on whatever it was he was going to tell Nori.
"Nori.... The chief just called me. She said that you can't stay here with me anymore. Actually she said we can't have anymore contact. Something about getting to attached to each other." Rylan explained. He left out the part where she defended a psychopath. Nori should not have to hear that apparently the police force was not on his side.
Nori of course understood this. It probably wasn't a good idea for him to stay here. Max had been detained, and he started going back to his classes yesterday. There really wasn't a point in him staying here... but he wanted to consider Rylan and himself friends. He didn't like the idea of not being to see him again.
