And underneath, he had scribbled his phone number.
I was so shocked I didn't even know how to react. Should I smile? Should I scream? Should I faint?
I decided on the second option.
My mother jumped, I had a pretty great scream. "Oh my—Y/N don't scare me like that!" She gasped, and I shrugged, muttering an apology. "What is it?"
"Shawn freaking Mendes gave me his phone number!" I squealed, typing the numbers into my phone and creating a contact for him.
"What?" My mother quickly glanced into my lap where the signed record was, looking for only a second since she was driving. "Is that so?"
"Yep. And I'm gonna text him," I said, punching the keyboard on my phone. "Right...now."
I hit send and watched "hey it's y/n from earlier, you gave me your number at the m&g :)" turn into a blue bubble on the screen. A couple of seconds later, the text had "Read at 10:34" underneath it.
"MOM HE READ IT!" I yelled loudly, causing my mother to wince again. "Sorry." I laughed. This whole thing seemed so surreal. Was I awake? I pinched myself.
Yep, I was awake.
I rubbed my skin where I pinched myself and waited for Shawn to reply, looking down at my black phone screen and hoping it'd light up soon.
I smiled as it buzzed and turned on, it was a message from Shawn. I unlocked my phone, entering the four-digit code faster than I ever had before.
His text read, "I remember you (duh) I'm in this town for a while, we should hang out tomorrow ;)"
"i'd love to" I, maybe too quickly, replied back, overexcited (but maybe reasonably) about possibly hanging out with Shawn Mendes.
Wow, I was having a great day.
