Emily - Alternate
I couldn't believe how late it was when I woke up. Of course, it had taken me forever to get to sleep, so I guess it was to be expected. I knew Ian would have New Brody with him, so I didn't have to worry about them for awhile. No cooking class, which was a bonus because I just wasn't into it. Given all the research I'd be doing, I might not be able to go back.
After I showered, I went down to the kitchen to find something to eat. There was a massive book on the island, note laying on the front.
Little Bit - A friend had this. Hope it helps with your problem. F.
The book, of course, was in Latin. After I ate something, I took the book back upstairs to our area to get comfortable. I sure as hell wasn't going anywhere for awhile.
Once I found the section on Temporal demons, I started taking some notes. I'd have a problem remembering everything.
Temporal demons have the ability to bend time and space to their whim. They may travel between dimensions at will, or even move people around. Gods may pass between dimensions, and even move people around in them, unless a Temporal demon is involved.
Well, shit. There went that idea. I wonder if putting me in a position where My Brody would show up would work.
A Temporal demon can sometimes be reasoned with, but not often. A sacrifice is usually involved.
Hell no.
Temporal demons may be killed by a heavy jolt of electricity or by beheading. Their death, depending on the method employed to kill them, can open a rift between dimensions.
Oh, nothing big.
I slammed the book shut and sighed. I sent Brody a text asking what they were up to, and he said he was listening to a demonologist, and would text later. I wanted to pout, but he was talking to someone who could really help us.
Before I sank into depression, I made myself get up and find a suitcase. I began filling it with some of Brody's clothes. I threw a couple of pairs of shoes in there, and some toiletries, then carried it all over to the guest room where New Brody was staying. We needed a better name for him than New Brody. I couldn't call him that if we were out in public.
I was struck by the fact that he'd made the bed. We had a housekeeper that came in every other day, and I made our bed every day, but New Brody had made his own bed. I had no idea if Ian did. He could be a spoiled brat sometimes, but I think he was just generally clueless about that kind of thing.
Before I got too wrapped up in looking at this room and feeling sorry for myself, I went to get my laptop. I needed to see if there were any signs out and about. I'm sure DC was happy that I'd gone south for awhile. I wasn't so far away that I couldn't get back up there, and would need to sometimes, like weekends, to show that I was still around and watching. I also wanted to make sure that the demons didn't get overly cocky (that's the beginnings of a bad joke there) and start branching out into Northern Virginia or even down to Richmond.
I found some activity that we should probably check out later, and put the laptop aside. I was staring at my phone, willing it to buzz with a text, when Ian walked in. I looked at him, and he crossed to the couch I was sitting on and grabbed the phone away from me. He threw it down and pulled me up into a hug.
At that moment, I was so glad that Ian and I were able to get past all our shit and be friends. I needed this hug.
"Go ahead and cry," he said. "I heard you last night. You don't always have to be this tough badass you know."
