"Well your knee looks fine nothing broken sprained or messed up. But it will definitely hurt the next couple of days so just keep in mind not to put so much stress on it. It will start bruising and swelling tonight but the swelling with go down in a couple days as well. So I think your good to go."
Cheerfully says the school nurse, Laura. She's always been really sweet and nice. She's in maybe her early fifties, around my dads age.

"Thank you Laura." I reply kindly.
She gives me a warm smile.

"Now you best be off to class, first day of senior year is always important."
"Alright I'll see you soon. Thanks again Laura."
"Anytime doll."

Limping to the door I came through, I peek my head out.
The boy is still there. Leaning against the wall biting his nails staring into space. Why is this kid still here, doesn't he want to get to class?"

Noticing my presence he turns and smiles.
"How'd it go?" He asks.
"It went good, my knees not completely screwed. So that's great." I reply with a straight face.

He starts chuckling.
"Your funny. What's your name?"
"Cas. Or Cassidy, whichever. And yours."
"Josh. Or Joshua. Whichever." He mocks.
I roll my eyes. This kids attitude reminds me of my brothers. Annoying.
"I should get to class, so I guess I'll see you later." I reply, slinging the strap of my backpack over one shoulder.

"You expect me to think your going to walk all the way to your class with that knee? Come on I'll walk you there. What class do you have?"
Pulling the crumpled schedule out of my pocket, checking the top of the list.
Oh joy. Math. With the worst teacher.

"Math, with Truman." I sigh.
"That sucks ass. I don't know Truman, but I do know math and math I'm not fond of. I have English, but I'll still walk you."
"Are you sure? Won't you be late for class?"
"Well I don't want you tripping and falling and potentially getting more hurt now do I?" He smirks.
"Okay. If your late for your class don't blame me, this was your choice."
He starts to laughing.
"Alright Ms. Grumpy Gills."
