Percy woke up to dark night sky, twinkling with stars. He was sprawled beside the Time-machine. As he looked around, Annabeth came into view. She was sitting beside him.
"Hi, Seaweed Brain"
Percy smiled and propped himself up on his elbows. The pain in his shoulder was mostly gone but he still felt the burning sensation in his hands. His brain was fuzzy for controlling the fluid for so long.
"Here, take this", Annabeth gave him some Ambrosia.
He saw Leo along with Amy beside the alien which was still unconscious. Many campers were present as well; along with Chiron who was in serious conversation with Dr.
"We had to knock it out again. It was in pain due to the wound and would not calm down. Some alien agency is gonna come and take it away" Annabeth said following Percy's lingering gaze on the alien.
All that happened during the day came back to Percy and he felt a sudden weight on his chest.
Aliens.
After all that Percy had seen in his life he was sure nothing would ever come as a shock anymore. And it hadn't. But he couldn't shake the feeling that this was something different.
Something big.
Something dangerous.
Something beyond him and gods themselves.
"Did you seal the wound?" he asked hopefully.
"Yes. Leo and Doctor cooked up something in the bunker", as she spoke a shadow crossed Annabeth's face. Her face paled and she stared ahead without blinking, there was fear in her stormy eyes that scared even Percy.
"Annabeth, what's wrong?"
"I just can't stop thinking of time we spent in the bunker. We were there for hours. But here you blacked out within minutes of controlling it. I can't imagine what happened the first time. I mean before we have traveled back in time. All this is so ..."
Confusing? But that's what our world is. Percy wanted to say. But he kept quiet.
"Uh. You are the daughter of Goddess of wisdom. I should be the one asking these questions, don't you think?"
Annabeth rolled her eyes.
Time to fess up. Percy cleared his throat. "Well I—"
"Howdy!" The Dr. exclaimed as he approached Percy and Annabeth. "You are awake"
He knelt beside them and offered his hand. "I think I owe you an introduction. I'm the Doctor"
"Doctor Who?" Percy inquired. He had being referring to him as just the Dr the whole time. It was rather irritating. Not that Percy was in any hurry to get on first name bases with this man, who was also an alien.
"Just the Doctor"
Numerous remarks came to Percy's mind, but he kept quite.
Do people have names like that? But then he remembered the names of monsters and gods he'd dealt with. I'm a fine one to talk.
"Ok. Just-the- I mean Doctor, I'm Percy Jackson", he said at last.
"Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon; lovely chap, bit of a rum. Anyway, its being a pleasure" the Doctor wasn't letting go of Percy's hand.
"Uh-oh", escaped Percy's lip as Annabeth nudged him. "Same here" he said.
"Percy, if not for you, I don't think we could have saved the Angard", the doctor confessed.
"uh. Thank You?" Percy said.
"No, No. I should say thank you" the Doctor laughed and let go.
"Okay." Percy said.
"You know I asked Annie to allow me to keep you in TARDIS while you were unconscious, there are some really fine suites in there." The Doctor informed.
"I thought it might come as a shock and you'll faint just like Leo did when he first entered", Annabeth blurted out too fast. Percy could tell she was lying.
"But you Annie, didn't even flinch. You understood before I could even say the full form of TARDIS, that it must be another dimension."
Percy kept quiet. He was aware of Annabeth's unease. She hadn't let Percy to be taken in the Time-machine probably because she found it dangerous.
"Thank you both again for your tremendous help"
The doctor got up and checked his watched.
"The U.N.I.T will arrive any minute. Amy we need to live"
Percy scooted closer to Annabeth; he wanted to talk to her about many things and he couldn't decide where to start.
"I'm sorry" Percy finally blurted out.
Annabeth genuinely looked confused. With a frown she said "What?"
"About earlier. Worrying you by leaving without informing"
Annabeth stared at Percy for what seemed like eternity. He was worried he had done a mistake by reminding her. Few hours ago they had forgetting everything and stood against the alien together and now...
You know you are a demi-god when fighting monsters comes easier to you that confessing your feelings.
"I'm no longer mad at you, Seaweed Brain."
Percy wasn't convinced. There still was this fierce look in her eyes. Percy was tempted to ask her again but stopped himself. He did what he did best. He stared at her blankly and acted dumb.
"Nothing's been the same since Gaea. And when you went missing again I was ..."
Percy silently cursed himself. He hadn't thought of it in that way. He still felt as if he knew so little about her and their relationship.
"I'm sorry" he said. "It was Leo's tool-belts fault. It went missing so we went missing so ..."
A small smile finally spread across Annabeth's lip. "It was Calypso."
"What?"
"I think Calypso hid it"
"Why would she possibly do that?" Percy was totally bewildered.
"You wouldn't understand it, Seaweed Brain" Annabeth said.
"Does UNIT have more TARDIS's?" Leo asked.
Leo was flirting with Amy, probably to let him acquire an opportunity to enter or analyze the TARDIS. Percy searched for Calypso in the crowd but didn't see her anywhere.
"Why, would you like to steal one and run away with it?" Amy asked looking teasingly at the Doctor, as if sharing a personal joke.
"No, Sunshine. So we could go to a really beautiful planet to have coffee", Leo said, a lie so plain even a toddler could understand. "You wouldn't have to tag along with Dr. Chin than" Leo finished.
"What is everybody's problem with my chin?" The doctor shouted continuing the joke.
"Nothing. It's just that we value our lives and don't want to get slashed with it."
"Oi." Doctor shouted again.
Everyone laughed.
Being surrounded with a weird scenario, a Time-traveling alien who looked like human, a Alien which didn't look like human, A red-haired girl so similar to Percy they couldn't stand each other, A Time-machine which was in danger of being stolen by Leo, with Annabeth in deep part of the forest and a river nearby, Percy felt a deep sensation of peace.
Percy felt home.
