Hayleys POV
"Hayley, did you pick up the napkin bag from Ms Chanders house" my sister Hannah yelled from the kitchen.
"Yess" I yell back with a bored tone, the wedding is in two days, I seriously thought everything would be more sorted out by now.
My sister Hannah is 21 and getting married to my mothers, boyfriends, sisters son.My dad is flying into New York from Austrailia in a few hours and nothing is ready. I haven't seen him in a few months, since my birthday.
My family is confusing, my whole family; my mum, dad, sister and me. We all lived in a horrible place in the northern Queensland part of Australia called Cairns. It is hot, muggy, and just gross. When I was in my first year of high school, everything went pair shaped and my mother packed, me and my sister up and moved to New York.
In New York, it's busy and there is always something new. Someone doing something interesting or even trying something new thing, new opportunities. In Cairns there are dirt roads, everyone tells the same joke, and still laughs at it. Everyone does the same old thing, everyone farms there land, and hopes to get out of the place, but never does. Lucky for us "Hannah and I" my mother did the hard part and got us out.
"Hayley, your dads taxi should be here soon, can you make him some lunch. He will be hugry" my mother calls from the second story in our house.
"I thought you didn't care about him anymore" I reply totally amused at how things change. She tells everyone how much she couldn't care less about him coming, or even staying here. Usually he just stays at a motel and I stay with him.
Within 5 minutes a taxi is outside our house and there is a knock on the door. An anxious feeling inside my stomach churns with excitement.
Flinging the door open to see a middle aged man, with dark brown hair cut short, brown eyes, little bit of stubble showing he hasn't shaved for awhile. His blue and black checkered button up shirt roughly tucked into his dark blue jeans. He looks at me and grins widely.
"Are you just going to stand there or give me a hug" he says dropping the suitcase he has in his hands, wrapping his arms tightly around me.
"Dad" I squeel, hugging him back. Excitement has been bubbling up inside me about telling him about my boyfriend, senior year and the wedding stuff."Oh hello Troy" my mother says, like she forgot he was coming, and not just trying to get me to make him some lunch.
"Hello honey, long time no see" my dad says sending her a wink. Laughing out loud at how gooffie my dad was , my mum walks away without a word."She's happy, what did you do this time to get her in such a twist" he says smiling at me.
"I don't... Really no" I says scruing up my face in the process. "Blake will probably be here tonight, he wasn't happy about you staying. But it's OK, mum said if you keep low key everything will be fine" I say wiggling my eyebrows at him.
He laughs and I take him to his bedroom. My mums boyfriends name is Blake, he lives with us but goes on business trips, sometimes takes mum with him. He's a loyer, and travels around for different cases. He is also very rich, unlike my father.
---------------------------------
It's around 7:00 at night, Blake got home an hour ago, and I can hear loud talking in the kitchen. I already new there was going to be fights and arguments. I've been sitting in my room painting my nails, which is pointless cause we are all getting our nails done for the wedding.
"She promised me, and so did you Caroline" my fathers voice yelled from the kitchen.
"She wouldn't have even thought of it if you didn't suggest it" my mother yelled back.
"Why do you to arugue so much" Blake's voice interups.
"You no what, why don't we ask her, she can decide for herself, she is 17 years old" my mother completely ignore Blake and continues yelling at my dad.
"If it weren't for us arguing, you wouldn't be sleeping with my wife" my father yells at Blake. Starting a brand new argument. It's been a hour and I can hear normal voices, but they seem to be dying down. Enough for me to go see what they were talking about me for.
Walking down the spiral staircase and into the white peal tiled kitchen, three adults are sitting around a table talking louder than normal but not classified as shouting.
"So what were you all yelling at, cat dig up your snow peas again" I say raising an eyebrow at Blake. Laughing a little myself.
"Hayley grow up and sit down please, we need to discuss something with you" Blake says taking out the chair next to him and patting it not looking amused about his pressure snowpeas.
"Hold up cowboy, don't you go telling my daughter to grow up, she can joke about your snow peas if she wants, as long as that's all she's joking about" he chuckles at himself and do tinues with "come sit with me baby girl" my dad says smiling at me pulling out the seats next to him.
Choosing the safe place next to my dad I ask "so what's so important we have to wake China" I says smiling."Hayley don't give us cheek, now listen, your dad says you promised to go back to Australia for your senior year, if you would like to, you can" my mother says with a knowing look that says you better say no.
"I did" I says very unsure yet surprised with myself. Something is telling me, my dad is going to push the matter till we bleed. But going back... I don't no if I can.
