Chapter 7

I dived onto my bed and slipped my phone out of my pocket, dialling Lilly's number. She picked up after the second ring.

"Tell me everything!" She shrieked so loudly down the phone I had to hold it away from my ear.

"Nothing much really happened. We went ice skating, then to pizza express and then back to his place..." I paused, not knowing what to say after that. Should I tell her what happened?

"Yes! You went back to his place and..." Lilly prompted.

"Urm we..."

"You what?" She interrupted.

"I'll tell you, if you just let me talk!" I giggled. "We just made out and then..."

"Then what?" Lilly squealed, clearly excited.

"Then nothing" I sighed.

"Really?" Lilly said, sounding disappointed.

"No... but I'm not telling you!" I laughed.

"Please!" She begged.

"Nope!" I smirked "You will just keep going on about.."

"I promise I won't!" Lilly begged. I could almost see her on her knees begging for me to tell her.

I chuckled at how eager she was and agreed to tell her tomorrow. It felt weird talking about it on the phone, I don't really know why it's not like we had gone all the way. I then continued to explain the Sarah incident, seeing as she asked for the date in more detail.

"Don't worry about it Lyds. Jake only has eyes for you."

"I'm not. I completely trust Jake." I smiled at the thought of Jake. Shit I was in trouble; just thinking of Jake made my heart start crashing inside my chest.

Lilly and I kept talking for another hour. She had started crushing on the new transfer student and felt it was necessary to describe their conversation after school in detail to me, down do how he flicked his hair. I laughed as I remembered how that used to be me talking about Jake; well I would never describe how he flicked his hair. Even though he did look very attractive when he flicked his hair.

It was Sunday evening and I was waiting for Jake and his family to come over for dinner. Our parents felt we needed a big dinner to catch up after the two years of Jake, and his family, being away. I hadn't seen Jake all weekend so was excited about him coming over. I had it so bad.

The doorbell chimed through the house and I heard my mum call my name. I took a deep breath and looked at myself once more in the mirror. I was wearing a tight black skirt and a loose fitting royal blue shirt, which matched the colour of my eyes.

I slowly made my way down the stairs towards the faint sound of chatter. I saw Lauren first, Jake's younger sister, was clinging to Jane. She smiled a big toothy grin when she saw me and ran towards me. I bent down and picked her up as she flung her arms round me.

"Lydia!" She squealed with excitement. Damn I had missed Lauren. She was like my little sister and I hated that I had missed two years of her growing up. She was eight now and I couldn't believe how much she had grown up since I had last seen her.

"I missed you!" I chirped, so happy to see her.

"Me too" She said, her beautiful toothy grin returning, before adding "But not as much as my brother did." I blushed and looked up to see both of our parents laughing but I barely noticed them as my eyes met Jake's.
