A/N So I originally wasn't going to update this rn but I had some free time and I knew what was going to be in this chapter so I figured I owed you guys :)
I sit in detention absentmindedly doodling on my page, not having anything else to do, whilst trying to ignore the pieces of paper, rubbers and other assorted small objects which were hurled in my direction from the back of the room every time the teacher wasn't looking, which was thankfully few in numbers. The projectiles were the result of Brock sitting in the back of the class, a self-satisfied smirk plastered on his face at my discomfort. He was one of my long time bullies and his presence here was dangerous, given the rapidly approaching end.
I really didn't want to get caught out by them with no one around.
The teacher finally dismissed us and I hurriedly grabbed my bag before sprinting out the door. I power walked around the building, trying to hurry but also trying not to draw unnecessary attention to myself.
I wasn't fast enough.
I was quickly surrounded by about six or seven guys as soon as I was out of sight of the entrance. They wasted no time in throwing me to the ground and kicking me whilst shouting abuse at me. I quickly curled up into a ball, desperately trying to protect myself from the never-ending barrage of blows.A vicious kick to the head sent me reeling, my head swimming.
Gay.
Faggot.
Emo.
Worthless.
The words were resonating in my pounding head, the insults taunting me.
I heard distant shouts and suddenly my attackers stopped and I heard the sound of pounding feet. I didn't move, though, and flinched away from a hand on my shoulder. I could hear several new voices although they seemed to blur together.
"Are you okay?" Higher for a male, soft, though, and very soothing.
"Can you hear me?" Calm, with a hint of an odd accent.
"What do we do?" Controlled panic, with a southern hint to it.
"You assholes!" High and strong, and for once the insult wasn't directed at me.
I carefully unfolded myself and opened my eyes. My vision was blurry but I could make out three figures, one standing back with light brown hair, one to my left with dark brown hair, and finally one directly in front of me, currently with his hands on my shoulders to steady me, with black hair. Footsteps indicated that the fourth person was behind me and coming toward us.
Had they chased them away?
This thought was quickly overshadowed as my vision came into focus and I saw the angel in front of me. I'm not joking.
He was that hot.
Not only that but the serious look of concern etched onto his face along with the openness is his bright blue eyes made me feel safer than I ever had.
Then my foggy mind played catch up and I realised who was around me.
Alfie, Troye, Joe and Phil.
The most popular people in school.
Why the hell did they help me?
