"So were there any meetups you would like to go to?" Tessa asked as they were walking around the vendor room.
"Um... I don't know." Bridgette started fidgeting with her badge. She already had 6 ribbons just from vendors and people who stopped because of her cosplay.
"That's alright. We can just all around some more." Tessa was being so wonderful to Bridgette, "it's so nicety have someone who gets it. Thanks, Tessa!"
*Bing Bing*
Sam: 'Hey, Bridge. Just so you know and want to join, here is my schedule:
Noon - Gleek meetup (but I may just grab lunch in the main area)
1- is the spoonie meetup that we think would be a good one for you. I will go with you if you want to go, I don't mind at all, Bridgette. Or there is fandom ink.
2- how do you leakycon
3- house meetups
5- opening ceremony (we all talked about meeting right outside the doors at 4pm).'
*Bing Bing*
'Just let me know if you want me to come find you'
Bridgette stared at her phone for a moment trying to think what to do.
"Hun," Tessa's voice was now soft, "I can only stay with you a tiny bit longer because rehearsals start soon for opening ceremony."
They hadn't really been doing anything except walking around for the past few hours. Every so often they were stopped by fans of Tessa's for photos and autographs and just to talk with her. They had spent some time with Joe at his merch booth earlier as well. All morning Bridgette kept receiving plenty of compliments for her Peter Pan cosplay. Everyone thought it was clever that she had pinned her Tinker Bell doll to her shoulder. All of this made Bridgette feel more secure around these "strangers".
"Okay," Bridgette said hesitantly, "I'll text Sam and meet up with her. Thanks again for everything, Tessa" Bridgette leaned into a hug with Tessa, she really does give the best hugs.
Bridgette looked at her watch, 2:36pm. She knew if she texted Sam right now that Sam would come right out of "how do you leakycon" even before it finished. Bridgette decided just to stroll around by herself for a bit until 3 then text her.
*main stage*
Tessa went running into main stage hoping she wasn't too late. "Sorry Melissa, I've been walking around with a friend that was having a rough time with her anxiety this morning. It's her first year."
Melissa smiled and waved her hand as to say no big deal, "Everything is fine, Joe was filling me in on it. Thanks you for taking the time to watch out for her while she's here. Well, like it was said before, we are all going to have our scripts with us so it's not too big of a deal if it isn't super memorized." Melissa stepped back, "Alright, everyone out front."
Soon everyone was huddled out on the front of the stage ready to rehearse.
"How is she?" Brian softly asked as leaned forward to Tessa so he didn't disrupt Melissa talking to the group.
"Yes, Brian." She said turning to him, "she really likes you, I can see it. With anxiety you have to know patience. We'll talk more afterwards." Brian nodded and stepped back, he couldn't help but still feel unsettled.
As rehearsals went on, Brian thought about the message: love conquers, love is work, love is powerful. Just as Alice was finding out, Brian's eye were also opening to what he had to do. Brian had to push his fear away, take pride in how he feels, and take the plunge to show Bridgette what she means to him.
Outside of the main stage, Bridgette and Sam had met up and went to the house meetups then found their way back to the marketplace. They ended up running into Lauren Fairweather in the hallway. They had talked to her for a bit about this being Bridgette's first year and how much they both love Lauren's music. Lauren, like everyone else here, was so sweet and seemed just as excited to see them as they were to see Lauren.
"Wow, how do you have tons of ribbons already?", Sam was so jealous of all Bridgette's ribbons on her badge that was now almost down the the floor.
"Yeah, Tessa and I spent a lot of time in the marketplace this morning. I was helping out at her booth and Joe's booth. Then Joe introduced me to Ricky at Ann Arbor Tee's booth, he's really cool, too! Then we were all talking about different Starkid musicals, and some of the stupid stuff they've done during the shows and tours." Bridgette couldn't stop laughing now that she started thinking about that really embarrassing story that Ricky had of Joe Walker during Apocalyptour.
"Sounds like you've had a fun day so far. Almost seems like you don't need us." Sam made a pouty puppy face as she said that
last bit.
Bridgette was not hesitant to dump out her sass, "I can't help it I'm popular", she chimed in as she flipped her hair. The two continued to carry on outside the main stage as people were already starting to line up. They joined a group of others in line that Sam had met from last year's Convention.
Sarah and Sydney were walking along looking for them when they heard Bridgette snorting/ laughing so loud. "Somebody is feeling better!", Sydney said with a grin. Sarah was so relieved to see that Bridgette was back to herself today "Anything extra fun happen today?"
As Bridgette laid out the contents of her day again and the other three girls jumped in with their days and new friends they made, Laura soon found the girls just in time to head inside.
