Dang. School break is over.
We had a whole week to just be ourselves and have fun, and now it's over.
Jayson drives us all the way to our school in Rhode Island. We go to a private school there, cuz I guess the education is better. And it's smaller, which is good, cuz I'd hate big schools. Eliza and Chase go to the public school for my town, so I don't get to see them a lot, but we hang out with everyone at night. So we're still good friends. Even though I don't go to school there, I basically know everyone from either sports or sports games.
Ricky goes to the public high school, so he left later, after picking up Vanessa. Too cute.
We all ride in silence for a few minutes. Then, Jayson decides to talk.
"That plan you guys had was pretty funny." He looks back.
"What makes you think I got their help?" I retorted.
"You would want backup." He shrugs his shoulders. "Someone to blame it on if it goes wrong."
"True." Quinn says. "But it didn't work, I guess."
"Oh, it did work." I give him some sass. "I successfully embarrassed David in front of his girly friend."
"WE successfully embarr-"
"I SUCCESSFULLY EMBARRASSED HIM. You just asked me to. I did all the work."
"Whatever, Toby." He rolls his eyes.
Jayson, amused by our argument, laughs and looks at me through the rear view mirror. "So why are we picking on David?"
"Cuz he's judgmental and doesn't care." I say.
"AND cuz he doesn't seem to like the youngest three of his siblings." Quinn put in.
"Wait, he doesn't like me?" CJ, who we realized was here too late, asks. Oops.
"Not as much as he hates me." Quinn says slowly."
"Nahhh. He hates me more!" I say.
"Well, maybe now, after you put a dent in his ego."
"Funny, that prank wasn't even that bad."
"You've got more?"
I look up and give him a devious grin.
"I always have more."
I sat next to my other best friend, Darrell, at lunch. He and some of my other friends, Tyler, Jayden, Mel, and Mikey, talked about the game. Besides all of the guys, me and Mel are the only girls who know about sports in my whole class.
"Did you see that catch by Gronk? Amazing."
"Yeah, well Pittsburgh had an off day."
"You sure, bro? Cuz they've been losing more than they've been winning."
"Brady did a way better job in the second half. Lets just hope that Gronk doesn't re-injure his arm again."
We are so spoiled in New England. Our sports teams are the best. We almost won the Stanley Cup, we won the World Series, and the Patriots are beast. It's just the Celtics that aren't too good. Well, it's their fault for trading Paul Pierce and KG.
"So how's your brother doin'? Darrell says while stuffing his face full if sandwich.
"Eh, good I guess."
"I heard from Quinn about the prank. Was his girl weirded out?" Tyler asked.
"Nah, she knows us too well. She was actually laughing the hardest."
The bell rang and we all rush to class.
When I get home, I rush upstairs before Mom gets back. David isn't here either, so I'm good. I take out the pink hair dye that Mel gave me. She says it should set after the first wash. Good thing David is blondish, so it'll be bright. I dump the dye into his axe shampoo and shake up the bottle. Setting it down, I dash out and smack against Ricky.
"Up to no good?"
"Maybe." I try to get around him, but he stops me.
"Just don't be stupid, ok?"
"No promises." I run out, but then curiosity gets the best of me.
"Wait, why are you here?"
"I need to borrow some shampoo. David can afford the good kind, so I'm gonna use it."
"NO!!! DONT TOUCH IT!!!" I yell.
"Just kidding. I knew you'd try that trick. I just wanted to see what you were up to."
"Oh. Well, see ya."
I woke up the next morning to a yell. Oh boy, this should be good.
"WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED HERE???"
I get ready for school as he keeps on yelling.
Mom runs down the hallway.
"WHAT'S GOING ON?"
David comes out. His whole head is a Barbie hot pink. Jayson and Ricky come out, sluggish from sleep. One look and they're on the floor laughing. Quinn comes out with a camera, clicks it a few times, and bolts. CJ is laughing so hard that he's crying.
Dad comes out, takes one look at his son, and shakes his head.
"I have a princess for a son."
David looks at me, death glaring.
"You little punk." He starts at me, but I duck inside my bathroom just in time. Ha.
He bangs on the door. "You're gonna have to come out sometime and face the music!!!"
"No I don't"
And I just won again. But then so realize that he has me trapped now. Oh boy.
