They all sat down around a kitchen table discussing on how to go about their situation. They made a plan; not so much a plan. They didn't seem like a plan-it-out kind of group, they seemed like the let's-run-in-guns-blazing-and-eventually-get-ourselves-captured kind of group. They decided to spit out information on what they knew about the situation so far and build from there.
"So the question is, who fired the missile from S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Steve asked first, looking at Emily.
"Peirce did, and he sent me to make sure you stayed long enough for it to hit." Emily said, not looking any of them in the eye. She held her head in one of her hands, all of her memories were coming back slowly, and it hurt.
"Who just happens to be sitting on top of the most secure building in Washington." Natasha added.
"Well he didn't work alone, Zola's algorithm was on the Lemurian Star." Steve tried to move the conversation forward.
"So was Jasper Sitwell." Natasha noted, Steve nodded.
"The real question is, how did the two most wanted men in Washington kidnap a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in broad daylight?" Emily asked looking at both of them now, as the man from before walked in with a file.
"The answer is you don't." He slammed the file onto the table, in front of Steve.
"What's this?" Steve asked, both him and Natasha stood up, looking over the files.
"Call it a resume." He said stone faced, Emily tried to look into his head, to find a name, but she wasn't strong enough to do it unless she touched some part of his head. She figured now wasn't the time to do it, she'd have to wait until he introduced himself.
"Is this Babalone?" Natasha asked, taking the folder from Steve, reading it over. "Condeal mission, you didn't say he was a para-rescue." She looked at Steve, eyebrow raised.
"Is that Riley?" Steve asked, looking from a picture in the file then to the other man. He nodded and crossed his arms over his chest.
"I heard they couldn't bring in choppers because the RPGs. What did you use, a stealth suit?" Natasha asked, skimming through the papers.
"No, these." He picked up the second folder from the table and handing it to Steve.
"I thought you said you were a pilot." Steve raised an eyebrow.
"I never said pilot" He smirked, holding back a laugh. Emily got up and took the file from Steve, looking over the file.
"I can't ask you to do this Sam, you got out for a good reason." Steve looked over to this guy, Steve called Sam.
"Dude, Captain America needs my help, there's no better way to to get back in." Sam chuckled humorlessly.
"Where can we get our hands on one of these?" Emily looked over at Sam, he turned to look at her.
"The last one is at a fort, behind three guarded gates, and a twelve inch steel wall." He said, as if he thought there was no possible way they could get it. Natasha looked at Emily then at Steve with a small smirk, causing Emily to laugh under her breath.
"Not a problem." Steve shrugged.
------
"Agent Sitwell, how as lunch? I hear the crabcakes here are delicious." Sam talked into the phone, Emily sat across from him, an earpiece in her ear so she could hear what Sitwell was saying.
"Who is this?" Sitwell asked looking around for them.
"The good looking guy in sunglasses at your ten o'clock." He informed him, picking up his glass of iced tea. "Your other ten o'clock." He sighed, making Emily chuckle. He finally made eye contact with Sitwell. "There you go." He raised his glassand nodded at him.
"What do you want?" Sitwell asked.
"You're going to go around the corner to the right. Follow this lovely little lady next to me to a grey car two spaces down, and you two are going to take a ride." Emily got up and started walking toward him.
"And why would I do that?" His eyes focused on Emily, his eyes widdening when he realized who she was.
"Because that tie looks really expensive, and we'd hate to mess it up." Emily said dryly, once she was next to him, pointing to the red snipper dot on his chest.
------
"Tell me about Zola's algorithm." Steve pushed Sitwell through the doorway that lead to the top of a building. Natasha and Emily trailed behind him.
"Never heard of it." He lied, Steve pushed him over again.
"What were you doing on the Lemurian Star?" He asked wih a chilling sense of calmness.
"Throwing up, I get sea sick." He lied again, Emily picked him up by the collar so Steve could interrogate him. She put her hands on Sitwell's temples, shook her head, and looked at Steve.
"He's lying." she said simply. Steve looked confused for a second, he forgot that she could do that. Steve took him from Emily and leaned backwards, with his back over the edge of the building. "Does this display mean you're going to throw me off the roof? 'Cause it's really not your style Rogers." Sitwell smirked.
"You're right." Steve snorted, pulling Sitwell away from the ledge, smoothing out his suit. "It's her's." He moved out of the way to let Natasha kick him off the roof. He let out a surprised yell as he fell off the side of the building.
"I like you." Emily laughed as she looked over at Natasha. She smiled back, winking at her, then looked at Steve.
"Wait, what about that girl from accounting? What was her name, L- Laura?"
"Lillian." Steve corrected. "Lip piercing right?"
"Yeah, she's cute." Natasha suggested.
"Yeah, I'm not ready for that." Steve looked down, then the sound of Sitwell's screams sounded like they were coming back up the side of the building. Just then Sitwell fell back onto the roof. While Sam flew over them on his suit, which resembled a jetpack with wings.
"Zola's algorithm is a program for choosing Insight's targets." Sitwell spoke quickly, spilling his guts.
"What targets?" Steve asked.
"You! A TV anchor in Cairo, the Under Secretary of Defense, a high school valedictorian in Iowa City, Charmer, Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange, anyone who's a threat to HYDRA. Now, or in the future." Sitwell continued. Steve, Natasha, and Sam all looked confused, they didn't know who Charmer was.
"In the future? How could it know? Steve asked, wanting answers, disregarding the question of who Charmer was. Sam and Emily stod behind Sitwell so he couldn't run away.
"How could it not? The 21st century is a digital book. Zola told HYDRA how to read it. Your bank records, medical histories, voting patterns, emails, phone calls, your damn SAT scores! Zola's algorithm evaluates people's past to predict their future." Sitwell explained.
"And what then?" Steve looked at Emily who reached to touch his forehead to see if he was telling the truth, she nodded.
"Oh, my God. Pierce is gonna kill me." Sitwell began to panic.
"What then?" Steve repeated.
"Then the Insight helicarriers scratch people off the list. A few million at a time." Sitwell looked at all of them helplessly.
