Ch.9- Gem Sickness

(Lapis's POV)
"Bye Jamie, I'm heading out for the day be back soon" I yell into the kitchen. " Aye alas I Already miss you my love" Jamie calls out in a poetic voice. "Pfft see ya later goofball" I laugh. Then before I say another word Jamie whisks me around and kisses me,"Have fun goofball" he chuckles.

I smile and wave goodbye as I walk out the front door and into the busy streets of Beach City. I release my wings and fly up into the air. I fly higher and higher until I'm right above Beach City. Then I swoop down and head for Stevens small house by the ocean. Suddenly right before I try to land my wings retract and I fall into Steven's porch.

Even worse I start to cough and blue blood comes out of my mouth. Following that comes intense pain and then as soon as it came it left. I stood up and tested my wings, in which were functional as usual. So I shook it off as nothing and knocked on Stevens door.

"Laaaaapis" Steven called as he ran for the door. "Hey Steven are you ready for our day at the boardwalk" I say with the best attitude. "Lapis you have a little something on the side of your mouth" Steven says curiously. I quickly wipe the blood off and pass it off to Steven as some remnant of earth food i had ate.

"We'll beach bud lets head off for a day of fun" I say excitedly. Then I scoop Steven up off the ground and we both soar through the air towards FunLand. "Ooh ooh stop there Lapis" Steven says as we pass FunLand arcade. Suddenly I feel weak and my wings begin to get heavy,luckily I hold out and land safely with Steven.

Once on the ground the world spins around me and I begin to lose focus on everything around me and everything goes dark.

[{Hours later in the gem temple]}

"Mmph" I groan as I start to regain my health. "LAPIS, are you ok!" Steven asks in a worried tone. "Ya of course I'm fine, bud" I say starting to hack up more blue blood. "Lapis your not well, we need to go see Garnet" Steven tells me worriedly. "*Cough* no Steven anyone but them" I angrily say.

"Lapis...your gem" Steven says pointing to my back. "WHAT WHAT'S WRONG" I scream worriedly. Steven hands me a mirror and I position it correctly so I can see my gem. My gem was starting to turn a pale blue and it was getting smaller. "Now will you go see Garnet" Steven says. I reluctantly agree with him and he takes me into Garnets room.

"Garnet quick Lapis needs help" Steven yells. Garnet turns to me and examines my gem. "just as I feared...It's the crystal heart" Garnet says. "A crystal heart those have been outlawed on all gem controlled planets, you know what they do to gems" I yell. "What does it do to gems" Steven asks.

"We'll Steven think of the crystal heart as a furnace...to operate a furnace you need to feed it fuel...so every ten thousand years the crystal heart strips a gem of their powers and uses it to provide life to the temple" Garnet explains. "So will Lapis be ok" Steven asks worriedly.

Garnet turns to Steven and says......
