Chapter Three

I ran.

That's what I do best. Run.

But how do you really run from the things inside your head?

After draining all my energy from running, now my legs are hurting. I've been running for god knows how long and I'm so exhausted. I'm positive I look like someone having a cardiac arrest for the way I'm trying to catch my breath. So much for running.

Im about to text my mom and ask where she is, when I heard someone called my name.

"Marlee?!" Someone shouted.

I ignored whoever he is. I'm familiar with that voice though I can't name it, I think it's from one of the those jocks who had the same History class with me. I bet he's up to no good so I kept on walking.

"Marlee!! Hey!" He repeated. From the way he's trying to catch his breath while calling my name, I think he's pacing towards me.

Why can't just people leave me alone.

When I realized there's no point of running away from him, I'm freaking exhausted from all the running for heavensake. I turned to face him. "What the hell do you want?!  and since when do people like you tried to aknowledge my existence" I spat out. I did not dare look into his eyes cause I bet mine will be puffy and red and I'm not in the mood to talk about it.

"Since you turned into a chick. A hot one in fact."  he replied with a wink.

Thank goodness he did not questioned my eyes. I mentally sighed. But then I remembered something.

This Jock is trying to flirt with me. I scoffed. "Yeah right, Listen here, I have no time for whatever you're playin' so why don't you find yourself another victim."  I retorted.

"Wanna go out on friday? Andrei's hosting a party."  He ignored my nasty remark and gave me a confident smile.

Boys and partys, I should've known.

I thought bitterly;

Every guy is just the same. He saw you. He met you. He wanted you. He liked you. He chased you. He got you. He had you. He got bored. And eventually he will left you. I've seen a lot of girls having troubles with jocks like him. And I know better.

"I'm sorry but I'm having a headache this friday" I shrugged. There's no way in hell I'm going out with him.

"How about a movie on saturday?" He tried again. Oh god this guy can't really take the hint huh?

"How about NEVER?!"  There I said it.

"Oh. Since when Marlee grew a backbone?" He mocked. He changed his tactics. Looks like someone can't handle rejection. I smirked.

"Looks like someone got rejected."  I sang still smirking. I'm about to walk away, when he grabbed my arm.

"You're still the same old Marlee no matter how much you changed the way you look,  and just because you get people's attention doesn't mean you can speak to me like that. You don't know me."  He threaten. I must have hit a nerve.

I swallowed. Tears threatening to fall. I will myself not to cry. I can't let him know I'm freaking scared as hell right now. He tighten his hold on me so I winced, which earned a reaction from him. "Are you scared Marlee? Where's your knight in shining armor now? Oh I almost forgot, he's not coming back. He's one of us now."  He teased.

"Let. Me. Go."  I asked gritting my teeth and trying to control my breathing. People sure know the right words to get into me.

"What if I dont want to?"  He mocked.

"Then Im gonna have to make--"

I was cut off by someone. Which from the sound of his voice is someone I'd rather not know. It can't be him.

"The lady said, Let her go."  He stated calmly.

The guy holding me turned to the source of the voice and I saw Him. I mentally groaned. I can get away with this all by myself. Why does he have to show up and pretend to give a damn.

Right now Sam looks deadly. They are on a staring match waiting for someone take the first move.

It looks like I need to show these guys something they're missing. The guy holding me was so distracted I took the opportunity and kneed him in the crotch. Hard.

The moment I saw him doubled out in pain an arrogant smirk made it's way in my face and I tried my best to look intimidating. "Next time you lay a finger on me I'll make sure that's not the only thing you'll be getting from me."  I stated.

This time I focused on Sam. "I don't need anyone's help. And especially not from you, so better mind your own business."  I almost laughed at his shocked expression but managed to hold it in for the sake of situation.

I walked away feeling the two of them burning holes in my back. Looks like they never see that one coming.

Just a couple of minutes had passed and a few replies from Mom before she came to fetch me, all the while saying sorry for being late. Oh well, I had a crazy day, I guess it's time to relax, free myself from drama and have some fun.
