Chris

"Chris, I'm so sorry! I had to do it! I didn't want to!" Zahlia cried into my lifeless chest.

I didn't understand. Why did Zahlia kill me? Why am I not able to see my mom, Earl, or Christina? So many thoughts and questions flooded my mind, but I managed to get one thought out.

"Why did you do it?" I said, loud enough for her to hear. She stopped crying and turned around to look at me.

"Chris!" She ran to me and hugged me. This time, it didn't feel cold. It was warm, like she and I were both still alive. "I'm so glad you're here with me now."

"Why'd you do it Zahlia?" I repeated. She had a look of guilt on her face.

"Come on." She grabbed my hand. "I'll show you."

Suddenly, we appeared in what seemed like a grassy meadow. It was just me and Zahlia there. The green grass was waist high and flowing in the cool, but warm breeze.

"Where are we?" I asked her.

"We're at my getaway. This was usually where I would go to clear my mind."

"What does that have to do with you killing me, Z?"

"Okay." She sighed. "I had a meeting with Elzira and Zorag, the rulers of Eljida and Malum. But before that, remember how I told you that Richie was a vampire?"

"Yeah."

"Well, I had a meeting with Elzira's sister Akasha. Akasha is the Queen of vampires, but they called her an empress. I wanted to become a vampire, so I went to go see her. I wanted to be a vampire because I didn't want to be just a ghost anymore. I wanted people to see me and not just only feel my touch if I killed them."

"But I felt your touches, Zahlia! I saw you! I heard you!"

"Chris, please." She begged for me to listen. "I-I wanted to be the good kind of vampire, not just some sadistic, evil, bitchy type vampire. So when Akasha told me that I had to kill someone close to me, I didn't know it would be you. She just showed me on some crystal ball thingy."

"Why didn't you just say no?!"

"Because I wanted you to be a vampire too! Chris, don't you see? I wanted you to be happy so we could be happy together. I did this because I lo---- Damn it." She mumbled the last part.

"You what?"

She looked at me. "N-nothing. Look, let's just go to Malum."

She grabbed my hand again, and we disappeared to a dark castle. We were standing outside, but we began to walk inside. It was dope as hell!

Zahlia led me to a red wooden door with black markings on it before knocking on it. "You may enter." A voice answered from the other side of it.

Zahlia opened the door as she led me inside the room. It had some type of Egyptian theme to it. There was a young woman who had glowing green eyes and fangs.

"Ah, Zahlia!" She smiled. "Welcome back, and I see you have brought someone." She walked over to us as she looked at me. "You must be Christopher. My soon-to-be new child, I hope. I am Akasha, the empress of Malum."

She gave her attention to Zahlia. "By the way, Zahlia, your ceremony is tomorrow morning. I will awake you myself. Now, you two should get some rest. I'll show you to your room."

She clapped her hands, and Zahlia and I magically appeared in a bedroom. The walls were red, the carpet was black, the bedspread was gold and black, as a couple pillows were red and black. It was a nicely decorated room, with all the gold statues and vases and stuff.

"Why didn't she give us separate rooms?" Zahlia asked herself.

"What, you don't want to sleep with me?" I smirked. She gave me a look.

"Weren't you just pissed at me like minutes ago?"

I chuckled as I plopped on the bed sideways. "I guess I can't stay mad at you. Even though I'm still very upset about my family, I know my mother would want me to be happy. I'm not happy but I'm recovering."

Zahlia nodded her head. "Fair enough." She turned around as she took off her wife-beater that she had been wearing, then her sweatpants.

"What you doing?" I bit my bottom lip at her petite, but thick figure. She turned around and looked at me with her eyebrow raised as I quickly changed my face expression.

"I'm taking a shower."

My jaw dropped. "Ghosts can take showers?"

"Yeah, Chris." She said in a "duh" voice. "This is the afterlife, we basically do the same things we did when we were alive; well, except we have magic, of course."

"So, we're technically still alive?"

"Dude, with the questions!" She laughed as I shrugged. "Yes, but no. Think of this place as a second chance."

I nodded my head. "Cool."

"Now, if you don't mind, I am going to go take a shower because I have been standing here talking to you in my underwear." We laughed as she went in the bathroom and closed the door.

"Damn, Zahlia." I chuckled before laying back on the bed.

-
"Chris." I heard Zahlia whisper to me. "You up?"

"Mm." I groaned. I felt her soft skin on my chest.

"Come on, wake up. I'm bored and I can't sleep."

"Not my fault."

"Chris, please??"

"Goodnight, Zahlia."

"You're so lame." Just then, a question came back in my mind.

"Oh yeah. What were you going to say earlier?" I smirked. I knew what she was going to say.

"What 'earlier'?"

"When we were arguing and you said 'I lo----'."

Her cheeks turned red. "Nothing."

I chuckled. "Okay, Zahlia."

"Goodnight, Chris."

"Goodnight. Oh, by the way!" She turned over.

"I love you too."
