The Monster Inside Me

It's been a couple weeks since I first started living with Sonic and his friends and I must say, that I really do enjoy it. I've gotten to know everyone much better.

I feel right at home.

I am calm most of the time so I haven't had an...'incident' since that night terror. But I know that won't be it. It always finds a way to surface.

Sonic had decided that I was ready to go to town. I was absolutely determined to show that I would be okay going into a public area. It's called a mall.

I was getting quite bored of sitting in the masion all day.

So, I got dressed, wearing a purple flannel button shirt, black shorts that came up to my thighs, and a black tank top. I brushed my hair, wearing it down. I also wore a pair of purple sneakers.

Sonic, the others, and I walked down the street. I walked between Sonic and Knuckles.

I hummed a happy tune to myself as I smiled brightly.

"You must be pretty excited. You haven't stopped smiling since you woke up this morning,"Knuckles smiled at me. I nodded vigorously. "Yes! Very excited! Is the mall a big place?"I asked.

"Yeah. It has lots of different places to shop, eat, and entertain yourself,"he replied.

I wonder who came up with such an amazing place like that.

I assumed that we made it when we came upon a ginormous, three story building made of glass.

I stopped to look up and take in the sparkling glass. It was so shiny that it hurt my eyes but I didn't want to look away.

A hand intertwined with mine. I took my eyes off of the building, looking beside me to see that it was Sonic.

"We're going in now. Come on."

I nodded and we walked inside behind the others.

The inside was larger than the outside! It was bustling with Mobians of all species and ages. It was kind of noisy but I enjoyed it anyway!

"Don't let go of my hand, okay? It's easy to get lost in here,"Sonic said. "Alright. Where are we going first?"I smiled.

"Ummm...I don't know. I usually don't leave the first floor."

Cream came up and took my hand into hers. "Let's go to the toy store! They have a new doll I've been dying to buy!"she squealed.

I admit. Even though I didn't know what a doll was, I got very hyper. I followed behind Cream, dragging Sonic behind me the whole way.

He didn't protest at all. He even chuckled a bit.

The toy store as Cream spoke of was filled with all kinds of different items. She ran up to a shelf filled with little baby bunnies and picked one that looked similar to her.

"This is it! I can't wait to take her home!"Cream smiled, hugging the doll. "Do you want me to pay for it, Cream?"Sonic smiled, ruffling her fur.

She giggled, shaking her head. "No, thank you, Mister Sonic. I've been saving money to buy it."

She walked up to this woman who stood behind a counter, placing it in front of her. The woman, who was a golden retriever, smiled brightly at Cream before typing something into the bizarre machine before saying,"Ten dollars and thirty five cents, sweetheart."

Cream opened her little purse that was shaped like a strawberry and pulled out a crumbled piece of green paper and some coins. She placed then on the counter and the woman placed it in the machine.

The doll was placed into a small pink and white stripped box and handed to Cream. We walked out of the store with Cream holding the box tight.

We went to a 'candy' store. Cream jumped around everywhere, talking about what was her favorites.

"Taste this!"she grinned up at me. She held up a piece of a brown rectangle. I took it from her hand and took a wiff.

I don't know why but it smelled HORRIBLE. I got nauseated just by looking at it.

"Go on! Eat it!"Cream said. I gave the piece of candy a questioning look before putting it into my mouth.

I shuddered. It was slimy in my mouth. But also chewy. I couldn't even begin to describe the taste.

"It's called chocolate! Do you like it?"

I choked it down, giving a convincing smile to the sweet little bunny.

"Yes. The taste was interesting."

"Great! Then you'll love these too!"

Oh no...

After trying various samples of this disgusting 'chocolate', we went to the 'food court'. Then we were on our way to meet the others.

"Did you enjoy your time here?"Sonic asked me.

I wanted to tell him about the foul chocolate but Cream was still with us and I didn't want to hurt her feelings.

She bought me a small bag of the chocolates. She would've gotten a bigger bag if I hadn't insisted on the small one. Even if the treat was disgusting, I'd eat it for her because I wouldn't want her money to go to waste.

"Oh, yes! I'd love to come back!"I smiled at Sonic. "We can come back any time you want,"he smiled.

I suddenly felt a stabbing pain in my abdomen. I gripped my stomach as we continued to walk.

It's probably nothing. Just a stomachache. Maybe.

I do feel a little sick.
