"Just because Shadow dares you to do it, doesn't mean you have to. Are you sure you want to?"Sonic asked. I grinned as I looked out at the deep blue, glimmering ocean. "Sonic, as I've said before, I am no pussy bitch,"I replied. He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Sonic surprised everyone with a trip to the beach today. Shadow has dared me to swim to as far as I could and catch a huge fish and if I did, he would wear my spare bikini.

Little did he know, I back down from no challenge.

"Woo! Go, (Y/n)! You can do it!"Cream cheered  from behind us. Everyone was watching. Rouge was scolding Shadow for daring me to do dangerous things.

I walked a few steps into the water before Sonic took a gentle hold of my arm. "I'll be a little ways into the water in case anything happens. I know you can stay under water for a while but if you're not back in a few minutes, I'm coming after you,"he said. "Don't worry. I got this,"I grinned.

Sonic smiled. "How about a good luck kiss?"he suggested. My face heated and my chest fluttered. Sonic chuckled and gently pecked my cheek. "Good luck."

I nodded and turned to the others. "This is for you, grumpy pants!"I yelled at Shadow. He gave me a thumbs up and Rouge smacked his hand down.

I turned back to the water and walked until the water was up to my chest. I fit the goggles that were on my head onto my eyes before taking a deep breath and diving into the cool water.

I attached a flashlight to my goggles beforehand so I turned it on before swimming out further to get closer to the ocean floor. I swam slowly, passing beautiful coral reefs filled with tiny fish scurrying to find shelter away from me.

My body felt so weightless in the ocean, almost like I was just flying around past colorful creatures and plants.

When the reefs began to drop further, I swam faster and went further down. I may be able to hold my breath for a few minutes but it may take longer to find a big fish.

The flashlight grew brighter as the water grew darker. Fish bigger than the ones I passed earlier were ignoring me as I swam past. I contemplated grabbing one of them but they weren't big enough.

Sonic's POV~

It's been 5 minutes since (Y/n) went under. I wasn't gonna move until I had to go get her or she came back.

The waves crashed against my knees as I stood there motionless, my arms crossed over my chest.

"She's gonna be fine, Sonic. She'll be back any second,"Blaze said, walking up beside me. She handed me a bottle of water. "I'll give her a few more minutes then I'm going in,"I said, opening it.

"You can't stay under as long as her, dude. You can barely swim as is,"she said. Damn she's got a point.

"If anything goes wrong, Shadow can go. He's the one that dared her,"she continued. I nodded before taking a sip of water. "The others were talking about going to a restaurant on the boardwalk for dinner. You in?"Blaze asked.

"Yeah, sure. Just let me know which one. Doesn't really matter to me,"I said. She pat my shoulder before walking back to shore.

A few more minutes passed and I was starting to get anxious. Rouge convinced me to sit on the shore instead of standing in the water so my foot was tapping impatiently.

I was still watching the blue oceans crash against the sand and pull back to do it all over again. Then I saw something pop out the water.

Maybe it's just my imagination. I rubbed my eyes and looked again.

Nope it was still there and quickly heading for shore. I quickly stood and ran to the water. When it came a bit closer, I could clearly see that it was a fin.

Seconds later, (Y/n)'s head broke through the surface of the water with a big goofy grin plastered on her face. I grinned as I ran out to meet her.

"Wait! Don't come any closer!"she yelled. She came closer, pulling something behind her. She came closer to the shore, a rope in her hand. Everyone came and stood beside me.

"What'd you get?"Shadow yelled. "I'm not really sure what it's called. Maybe you know. But it scratched me pretty good on my arm,"she yelled back.

I could see a little blood trickling from a small scratch on her left arm. It didn't look too bad. She turned to pick up her catch.

She lifted it into the air and everyone went crazy.

(Y/n) caught a motherfucking shark. A very, very large one at that. She had a piece of rope tied tightly around it's mouth. It squirmed around in her grip but she held it tightly.

"What is it?"she smiled. "(Y/n)...it's a shark. Where did you get it?"Shadow asked. "I had to swim pretty far to get it. It put up a fight too but it helped me swim back pretty fast,"she said.

"So you rode the shark back to shore?"Rouge asked. "Yep! Does this mean I win, Shadow?"she asked. He nodded and she grinned.

(Y/n) turned towards the ocean, used one hand to take the rope off of the shark, then chucked it. We watched as it flew through the air then landed with a big splash.

She skipped onto shore, taking her goggles off. "Does it hurt?"I asked, motioning to her scratch. "A little. It's not too serious though,"she smiled. "Let's get to the van and I'll clean you up,"I said, taking her hand.

We walked to the van where I sat her down and wrapped her in a towel. I pulled out a first aid kit and sat beside her. "I was honestly so scared when you went. I thought I was gonna shit myself when I saw that shark,"I said. "Oh wait! Before you start, I have something for you! I almost forgot!"she said.

She reached into the top of her one piece and pulled out a clam shell. She flipped it over and the inside was blue. "I saw it while I was fighting that shark. All I could think about was you when I picked it up,"(Y/n) said, placing it in my hands.

I smiled, my heart fluttering. "Thank you. I love it. I'll turn it into a necklace and wear it all the time,"I said. She took it from my hands and scooted closer to me, laying her head on my shoulder. She held it in the sunlight. "Look. It has little sparkles in it too,"she smiled.

She was right. It glimmered in the sun. Just like her eyes when she smiles.

I looked down at her and she looked up at me. I cupped her cheek and started to come closer. Her cheeks began to heat and turn red as her eyes fluttered close.

I could feel her gentle breaths tickling my lips. I was so close that I was praying she didn't hear my heart pounding inside me.

Our noses gently rubbed together and-

"Aye, yo, where's my bikini?"

I quickly pulled away from (Y/n) to see Shadow coming around the side of the van. (Y/n) blushed heavily and reached to grab her bag. She pulled out a hot pink two piece.

"You're gonna look really nice in this,"she grinned at Shadow. "Dammit, you don't have another one piece?"he groaned.

"Nope. This is the only other swimsuit I have,"she shrugged. Shadow snatched the bikini from her and stomped off. She giggled softly then looked back at me.

"Well...we should go ahead and take care of my scratch and get back to the others,"she said. She handed me my shell and I slipped it into my pocket. "Yeah, lets do that,"I smiled.

My heart was still beating away. It was making it a little hard to breathe. I almost kissed her. I was so close and Shadow just had to get his bikini.

I cleaned her wound and put bandages on it. She snorted out of nowhere. "What?"I asked. "I do have another one piece. I just wanted to see him wear pink,"she smiled.

We laughed together before heading back to the others. Her hand slipped into mine as we trudged through the sand and she smiled up at me.
