The beautiful barn owl flew around our house, and landed carefully on the roof. It looked around, as if checking if this was the right place. Then it flew to the letter box, and dropped a letter in it.
If only I had known what this had meant; I would have taken the letter and ripped it to pieces. I was just staring at the owl, amazed. But then again, If I had ripped it to pieces, they would have probably sent other ones; until they knew she got it.
I ran to the house.
"Mum! Muuum! There's this owl that just put a letter in our letter box. Mum!" I was excited; huh, if only I had known what it would all lead to.
"Hmm. That's nice, dear." She didn't sound as excited as I was.
"No, Mum; I mean, really!"
She grunted and followed me to the garden. There it was, the beautiful owl, sitting peacefully on our roof, looking at us with those amazing amber eyes. If only had known, I would have killed it.
"Oh... you were right, dear."
"Of course I was, Mum. Look, it dropped a letter in the letter box. “I ran to the letter box and handed her the letter.
"Hmmm.... who could this be?" She asked herself aloud.
I snatched the letter from her hands; I didn't know what I expected, but certainly not this; I dunno, I thought it would be some kind of scam, or practical joke, maybe. When I saw that it was for Lily, I ripped the envelope; and read, the letter was written in beautiful italic emerald green ink, on a piece of thick parchment.

Dear Ms Evans,
We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Terms begin on 1 of September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.
