I strolled down the hallway of school, my ponytail swaying back and forth behind my head. I fixed my sweater and pulled up my jeans some before walking into Science class. I noticed Sam was in this class and I grinned over at him, before going and sitting next to Danny.chuckle. The teacher came in and I took a seat and pulled out my notebook and homework.

"Hey." I mumbled to him and he waved slightly. I looked over at what he was doing and noticed it was his homework. I couldn't help but laugh.

A few classes later it was lunch. I walked into the lunch room and headed over to my usual table to sit with Danny. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket and put my stuff down, pulling it out and checking it.

'Guess who?' It read.

'Sam?' I texted back, grinning. I felt someone breathing over my shoulder and looked up to find Danny. I hugged the phone to my chest and he grinned, raising his eyebrows.

"Someones got secrets" He mumbled, setting his food on the table and sitting next to me. I shrugged and felt my phone buzz again.

"Well, you are a good guesser. So lets see. Tonight at 6?"

I blushed a bit to myself and looked around. I caught Sam's eye, as he was looking at me. I gave him a thumbs up and he smiled, turning back to his friends.

*~*

I fixed my loosely curled light brown hair once more before the doorbell rang. I ran to answer it, smoothing down my jeans and fixing my cardigan once more before opening it. Sam stood there, smiling. He was wearing a polo tee-shirt with blue jeans. His light brown hair in its normal ramp.

"Hey.." He said, studying me. I grinned.

"Ready?" I asked

"Lets go." He held out his arm and I grabbed onto it, grabbing my purse and shutting the door behind me. He brought me over to his truck. It was a old one, red and some rust on it. It was small too. I got in, and wasn't used to it. I was used to Danny's truck. I pushed Danny from my head, and was determined not to talk about him. But he is my best friend. So there isn't much more to talk about. Sam drove to a nearby Olive Garden and parked. We went inside, and luckily he made a reservation. We got seated and ordered our drinks as my phone began to buzz. I grinned at him apologetically.

"I am going to take this really quick."

He nodded and I grabbed the phone. I went into the bathroom and checked the name on it. Danny.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Yoo Al. Wanna watch Shrek? I just rented it."

"Uhm, I can't. I am on a date."

I felt so awkward telling him though.

"What? Did I hear that right?"

I noticed he was joking but I couldn't help but hear a twang of pain in his voice.

"Ha ha. Yes. With Sam."

"Okay. Well bye." He said, sounding grumpy.

"Wait! What?"

I sighed and shook my head, confused. I shoved the phone into my purse and checked my makeup before heading back out.

"I ordered you spaghetti." He said. I shrugged and took my seat again.

We ate and talked here and there. He was nice but he talked a lot. I smiled most the time, and nodded along as he told me stories.

Soon he took me home. Before I got out of the car he leaned over and gently kissed my cheek. I blushed as I felt him smile lightly before pulling back.

"Night, Allie." He said, smiling. I smiled and got of the car, waving. I jogged up to my door and unlocked it going inside. I could feel my face heating up out of embarrassment.

Then I remembered Danny. I grabbed my phone and dialed his number. He answered after the second ring. I could hear a movie playing in the background along with a girly, high-pitched laughter.

"Oh. Hey Allie." He said.

"Uhm, hey! Want me to head over now?" I asked, a bit confused at the laughter. Danny didn't have a sister. And that was definitely NOT his moms laugh.

"No thanks. Dafney came over instead. I have to go. Bye."

"Wait. Dann-"

I got cut off as the phone beeped, signalling he hung up. I grumbled and marched upstairs. Why was I so upset? Danny was finally mingling. That's good. That's good..

I kept telling myself this, yet I couldn't quite convince myself I was right.
