She gasped. Intertwinement vows.
His eyes opened slowly and he grimaced as a pang hit him and he stared at his wrists covered in gauze.
"You're awake."
"I am." He replied meeting her eyes. He smiled slightly before clearing his throat. "About earlier, I did not intend..."
"Do not mention it--" When she saw his eyebrow raise she quickly continued, "it upsets my wolf."
"And the human?"
She leaned against the door frame awkwardly, "her too."
"I apologize, it is what I thought--,"
"Last time you acted without thought--"
"I lost you."
"Perhaps it was best. They say things occur for a reason."
"That is bullshit and you know it. On more than one occasion you have bought me back from certain demise. If you believe any word of what you just said, why am I still alive?" He wiggled and sat up holding a hand up to stop her from assisting. "I was wrong, am wrong. I should have had more faith in you and us. Not that it is any excuse but with what was happening with Father, and less time with you, Jerry appealed to my insecurities and like a simpleton, I let him." He said before she could stop him.
"Elijah, stop--"
"No, I need to say this and you need to hear it. Come here." He paused when her eyebrow rose. "Please."
She reluctantly went to him and took a seat in the chair. "You do not--"
"I will do everything in my power to make it up to you." He reached out to her, hoping she would take his hand. "I am not foolish enough to even believe you will take me back, I would not expect you to, just know, there was not a day that you did not cross my mind. I will make sure you are happy even if it means completely healing and never bothering you again. I mean it."
"This is not easy Elijah."
"I realize I hurt you with my actions and accusations. Letting go the past is not easy but I am trying to make atonement. I am not asking you to love me again, but to forgive me." He grinned slightly lowering the hand she did not take. "Besides, we have to be cordial if I am to heal and return and bring you Jerry's head." He laughed when she gasped. "Even after the man has wronged you, you still cannot bare the taking of his petty life." He shook his head. "How could I ever have believed you a cheat?"
"I am going to make lunch." She stood and picked up a bottled water before walking to the door. Looking over her shoulder she acknowledged him, "You are right, I do not want Jerry dead." She grinned leaving the room and as she pulled the door up behind her he swore he heard her mutter, "Vivianne however..."
Smiling he relaxed feeling quite at peace for the first time in five years. I will make her happy again. He vowed.
Later she entered with sandwiches and water and noticed him studying his legs with a pensive look on his face.
"Are you alright?"
He jumped. "Oh er-- yes, I am, I just thought...I..felt something but perhaps it is my mind."
She sat down the trays and walked to the foot of the bed and ran a finger from his foot sole to his big toe. "Anything?"
"No. Well, not exactly, I mean-- it tingles. The part you touched."
Her eyes widened and she pushed down the excitement and continued to poke and ask him questions. After some time he groaned and sat up higher.
"That is enough, no need to get our hopes up about something that is not going to happen, I may as well just accept my fate as is." She said nothing as her mind continued to work and her train of thought was broken when he grabbed her wrist firmly yet gentle. "Athena, I still cannot feel them." He avoided eye contact and blinked away what felt like tears.
