Johnny shifted but before he could attack Athena blocked his way. "John Byrne, you shift back this instant!" She said clearly upset with him while Elijah growled. "Silence Elijah! John, I said shift."

His eyes squinted and she could tell he was glaring past her shoulder at Elijah. She rubbed between his ears and whispered in his ear. "You never let me finish. I believe he was attacked and ended up at my house."

Elijah watched and his wolf was nearly in a frenzy, enraged at being challenged and seeing Athena so close to another wolf.

She looked into John's eyes relieved when she no longer saw as much anger in them and turned to check out Elijah whose eyes were completely golden. She could tell he was completely gone, "if it weren't for this chair he would already be dead." He said smoothly and John grumbled. When she shot him a look, he immediately silenced and walked to her bathroom.

"Top cabinet." He nodded and she turned her attention back to Elijah.

"Come back to me Elijah." She soothed and gasped when her wrists were grabbed. Looking beyond him she saw John ready to help and she quickly mouthed no, if John showed himself, nothing would stop the enraged wolf from trying to end him, paralyzed or not. She felt her eyes switch and she grabbed his face. "Calm down."

"His hands were all over you."

"It is a form of greeting. Now I imagine the humans will feel, according to them, awkward so let the foolish man return." They eyes met again before Elijah and Athena blinked and jumped away from one another.

"What happened?"

"Alpha boy here nearly lost it." He said finishing the last button of his shirt. He had seen the exchange and knew that the convening of the wolves' in the spiritual form was sacred and knew that he was fortunate to have been a witness. The power she had to pull him back spoke a lot to how connected their wolves were and how foolish the human has been in their case. He went and sat down not without observing Elijah's movement in the wheel chair.

"What happened to ya?" He asked making himself comfortable.

Elijah instead continued to look at her curiously and frowned when her eyes lit up. "That was the question you wanted to ask, why didn't you just ask me?!"

"It wasn't any of business."

"The hell is isn't. You wouldn't be you if you were not the least bit curious, I am surprised come to think of it that you didn't ask as soon as I came to."

"I kind of had other things on my mind at the time."

He nodded. "Maybe."

John observed their interaction and felt his wolf stir. She seems comfortable around him. He mentally agreed. He cleared his throat, "well Athy care to explain why I was invited to your humble abode? Not that I mind seeing your beautiful face?" He grinned when he heard Elijah grumble.

Her face suddenly became guarded as if she remembered something. "What did the visits to clinics consist of?"

He looked confused and then his eyes widened and he looked at Elijah angrily. "You believed I was the one in the pictures!?" Elijah said nothing but continued to glare at John. "Goddess, it all makes sense now. I remember it was the last day at clinic. When I arrived I was certain that I would die, hell I wanted to. But Athena, the most compassionate beautiful creature I've ever had the pleasure of meeting," he said smiling when she blushed, "she fought for my life when I wanted to give up my damn self. Her time at the clinics consisted of telling me stories to take my mind off of my pain and sitting with me as sobs wrecked my entire being. My tribe," he shook his head, "my tribe was a cruel cruel place and I was in a dark place. Athena, she gave me something to hope for. Her stories." He paused making sure Elijah diverted his attention away from her to him, "were about you. Your high school love and the wedding and your life. She made me wish for a mate with the same amount of devotion. Hell it got to a point where I even wished she was mine." He said grinning when she gasped. "Haha Athy that was something I never got around to telling you at the time."
