It took three days for the three wolves to get close enough to the town in which then they were able to change into their human forms and walk normally. "All of this for a dress?" Jason asked, his nostrils flaring. Jason was Vivianne's cousin who was just a year younger than Elijah, and was his closest friend since high school. Aaron was Jerry's younger son of just sixteen years of age, though smaller than the older wolves, the latter was as quick as they came in battle.Elijah just shrugged his shoulders. "This is my selfless act I guess." James studied his best friend noticing the tension in his shoulders over the past few weeks. Anyone else would figure alpha duties were just getting to him, but he knew better.
"Aaron go ahead, I must talk to the alpha." The boy nodded and jogged ahead on the pathway.
"Do you ever wonder where she went?" He whispered.
He received a weird look before Elijah's eyes fell. "Damn near everyday." Jason nodded.
"What if we looked for her?" At the look in the alpha's eyes he quickly explained. "You have always wanted to get answers from her yourself. This could be closure for you man."
"It was closed long ago."
"Don't allow yourself to live with these thoughts plaguing you, they can very well put you in a very dark place."
"It is almost as if you do not want me with Vivianne." He accused suspiciously.
Jason picked up his pace down the path muttering, "You were happier with Athena." Elijah pretended not hear that as they caught up to Aaron.
"The Townshed." Aaron said looking around. Elijah traveled there often to meet other tribal leaders on a neutral grounds under the pretense of being a businessman. He hadn't been there in a few years and figured the same old town had been touched up rather nicely.
"Come now. Let us collect the dress fabric, find the damn car and get back to the tribe." He ran a hand through his hair. A little later after tracking down the dress but unsuccessfully finding the car, the three men sat in the cafe.
"Father is not answering the phone." Aaron said annoyed.
"Probably with Vivianne. That girl has not stopped talking about the Intertwine since, well forever." Jason snickered.
Elijah just stared out of the cafe window, observing the human activity as they passed. Before a certain blonde could walk past, his attention was brought to a waitress. "Is there anything else I can get you gentlemen?" He observed the older woman with young beauty. Though a little larger around the waist, her laugh lines on her face and twinkling eyes endeared him to her.
"You guys want anything else?" Jason and Aaron replied negatively pushing back their empty plates. "A wonderful place you have here M'am." He said flashing a genuine smile.
"Oh I would not do it without the help of my darlings, you're handsome men, you should come kiss the chef." All three laughed. Aaron blushed while the two men just shook their heads.
"I'll tell you what, I'll leave a heavy tip." She smiled faded when she patted him on the shoulder. "Is all well?" He asked concerned.
"Nothing. We close in ten. Make payment at the counter by the stools, I must get going." Quick silver flashed in her irises as she lowered her voice. "Young wolves, be careful, do not draw attention to yourselves." She advised. He had a lot of questions, but just simply nodded.
"Come on men, we must get going."
She smoothed back his hair, slightly caressing his scar. "Such a bright, foolish lad you are." He flinched.
