Journal Entry #520

The other day, I was roaming the beach. The smell of the ocean soothes me. It reminded me of the feeling I get when I'm surfing. I felt like nothing could bring me down. There were no worries, no infection, no infected, and no immunes. It was as if Pandora never opened that box.
I'm all alone now. I had no one. No friends. No family. I thought today was going to be the same as any other day but I was wrong.
In the normally deserted beach was a girl. She walked alone. Her right hand was metallic. She seemed surprisingly tall for an Asian. I was scared to approach. Will she attack me? Will she try to kill me? I don't want to fight anyone, especially a girl.
I hid behind a palm tree but as I poked my head out to take a look at her, she was staring straight at me. Her dark brown eyes seemed to pierce through my soul. I clenched my fists.
"Who are you?" I asked, stepping out from behind the tree.
"The name's Cosette." The girl replied. "Yours?"
"Luke...Luke Harrison."
"Cosette Jones."
"What are you doing here?"
"None of your business. If you leave me alone, I won't hurt you."
"Big talk from a little girl."
"I'm not that little."
I chuckled. It made me feel good to talk like this in the strangest way. I can finally throw manners out the window. However, this isn't me. I'm not a jerk. I'm a nice person.
"I'm sorry. I haven't talked to a person in a while and I thought you were hostile."
"That's okay." She said and began to walk away.
"Wait! Are you immune too?!" I don't know why I asked that. Maybe I was sick of being alone. Maybe I was just curious. Maybe I might have a crush on a girl I just met. What? Why did I even think that?
"Yeah, so what?" She replied.
"I am too...maybe we should team up or whatnot."
"Thanks but no thanks." She tried to walk away again but I moved in front of her.
"Please...I don't want to be alone."
A smirk appeared on her face. "Needy much?"
"What's your power?"
"Don't have one,"
"What?"
"I don't have a power."
"But your immune!"
"I was confused too. I just don't have one. Now let me pass please."
"Wait! We can be a good team! We can protect each other."
She scoffed.
"Let me prove it!"
"Gosh, how clingy can you be?!"
Before she can say anything else, I raided my hand and the water surrounded the two of us.
"Impressive but I must go now." She said and pushed me out of the way with her left arm. I felt a tingling feeling corse throughout my body. The water around just dropped. I raised my hand again but nothing happened. Both of our eyes widened.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" I yelled.
"I-I don't know."
"Well I'm holding you responsible. I'm not going to leave you until you fix this."
She sighed. "Alright, fine." That took me by surprise. Maybe she felt bad. Maybe she likes me too. Whatever the reason it is, I finally had someone. We might not be friends but she's a person. It's not just me anymore.
In my old life, I would've never acted like this. I would've never begged someone to stay with me. But ever since everything I went through, I stopped caring about what I look like or what people think about me. I'm glad I did. I found someone now. I had faith that we can become friends even though we had a rocky start.
