3 months after the accident

"Open your eyes, please Luke," I grip his hand but he's not moving, just like he has been for the past couple months.

I bring his hand up to my mouth and give his knuckles a light kiss.

Things could be worse, that's what I tell myself. He could be dead, but he's not.

He's just not moving, laying there like he was sleeping. In some way, I guess he is. Just sleeping.

It's all my fault, I should've been paying attention. If I was, then I would've seen the truck. I would've seen it, and it wouldn't have put me in this situation.

I wouldn't be in a hospital, emotionally unstable as I watched over my boyfriend who was in a coma because of me.

A tear fell down onto his hand as I held it close to my face. "I miss you Lukey. I just want you back, I've learned my lesson," the only response I get is the steady beep of his heart monitor.

"You've kept me waiting long enough. I just want you to open your eyes and for everything to be okay. Please...please just wake up."
