5 months before the accident

"Do what you want! What you want with my body!" Luke sang and bit his lip. I tried not to smile but then he wiggled his eyebrows at me and I burst out laughing.

"Stop distracting the driver," I said through giggles.

He smiled fondly at me but it only lasted a minute before he started dancing like a maniac again, well as best he could in a car.

"Ashton, are we almost there?" he asked as he picked up his phone to change the song.

I clicked the screen of the GPS and sighed, "We have about 4 hours left."

He groaned and pouted at me, "I have to pee."

I shook my head with an amused smile.

"Luke, you're making me sound like a parent, but I told you to go at the last stop," he sighed and threw his head back against his seat.

"And you're making me sound like a kid, but I didn't need to go then." He whined, sounding like a 4 year old.

"There's another stop in about 15 minutes, can you hold it till then?" I asked and he groaned.

"No! My bladder is gonna explode by then," I giggled and rolled my eyes.

"I doubt it's gonna explode."

He raised an eyebrow and kept a straight face. "Oh it will."

I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from laughing because it seemed like he was serious and I didn't want him mad at me.

"Well, I don't know then because we can't just stop at the side of the road and so you can pee, we're on the highway," he groaned for the millionth time before he gasped and looked at me with a big smile.

"You packed all the food and stuff right?" He asked and I nodded slowly, a skeptical look on my face.

"Yeah...you told me to remember?"

He nodded and quickly unbuckled before jumping into the backseat. I squeaked and tried to hit him as best I could.

"Dumbass! Don't do that!" I yelled but he just laughed. I heard him open up the cooler then roll down the window. "What the heck are you doing?" I asked, looking in the mirror.

He had a water bottle in his hand, dumping it out the window. "What're you doing? You're wasting the water." I complained.

"Don't look." He says and then I groan as I realize what he's doing.

"Please tell me you aren't peeing in the bottle Luke." I groan and he just laughs.

I sigh and turn the music up until he sits down back in his seat. "You're dumb. Now we have a bottle of piss in the backseat." He shrugs and I just roll my eyes.

"Well, I can cross that off my bucket list." He says with a laugh. I try not to but I end up laughing with him.

"I knew I should've said no to this road trip." I joked and he shrugged.

"I did warn you I get weird if I'm in a car for more than 2 hours." He says through his laughs.

As the time passes my eyes start to get heavy, wanting to shut as the sun goes down.

Luke rubs my arm and I steal a glance at him. "How long?" I ask this time.

He looks at the GPS as I keep my eyes trained on the road in front of me. "A little over an hour." I nod and sigh.

"I can make it." I mutter. Yet, he shakes his head.

"Pull over. Let me drive for a while." He mutters and I take a moment to think about it before I nod. No way I am going to make it.

I quickly pull over and switch seats with Luke. He kisses my forehead and smiles. "Get some sleep baby. I'll wake you up when we get to the hotel."

I nod again and rest my head against the window as Luke starts the remaining drive to our destination. It doesn't take me long to close my eyes and for them to stay that way as I drifted off.

I woke up to Luke pulling me out of the car and picking me up carefully. He carries me to our room. I snuggle my face into his chest. When he sets me down on the bed, I keep my grip on him so he'll lay down with me, although I knew that he would.

He laid in the bed beside me and I snuggled into his side, falling asleep again but only this time in his arms.

The rest of the trip was eventful and I wouldn't take back my decision for anything.

It was the best trip of my life.

2017 my ass. I'm sorry I couldn't wait.

Stay lovely🌹
