3rd person PoV

Casey heard the car horn blare before he walked outside. He watched the car speed off as he pulled out his cellphone. He called 911 and ran up to the person on the ground, realizing that it was Nicole. He dropped down beside her. He told the operator where they were, what happened, and how bad Nicole looked. They were sending an ambulance.

He called Tyler and Josh's house next. Tyler picked up.

"Hello?"

"Yeah. Oh my god. It's me, Casey. Car. Hit and run. Blood. So much blood. Ambulance coming. Nicole's hurt," Casey rushed out.

"Where?"

"Music shop." Tyler hung up. He and Josh were there in less than a minute. They showed before the ambulance did. The ambulance got there seconds later. The paramedics took Nicole. Tyler rode in with her. Josh took Casey to the hospital. All three of them waited for hours in the waiting room. Tyler was freaking out. Josh was trying to calm him down, but he was just as upset. Casey stopped every single doctor and nurse to ask about Nicole.

"C'mon! That's my best friend in there. At least let me know she's okay," he pleaded after three hours of waiting. An ER doctor looked at him sympathetically.

"You're here for Nicole Joseph?" Hearing the name, Tyler and Josh ran over to the doctor. They never officially changed her name, but she rode in with Tyler. That's the name that got put on her chart.

"I'm really sorry to tell you this. We did everything we could. She slipped into a coma." Tyler looked like he was going to be sick.

"Well, she's gonna wake up, right," Josh asked.

"It's possible. Right now we're doing everything we can, but you should prepare yourselves for the possibility that she doesn't wake up. I'll let you know as soon as anything happens." He walked back through the ER doors. Tyler ran to the bathroom, were he proceeded to lose whatever breakfast was left in his stomach. Casey sunk down against the wall. He was only 16. He shouldn't have to deal with this. Josh sat down in one of the chairs and tried to calm himself down. A police officer walked up to the receptionist. She pointed over at Josh, Casey, and Tyler, who had just gotten out of the bathroom.

"Excuse me. I need to talk to you three about the accident." They all nodded. "Did any of you witness it?" Casey cleared his throat.

"I did. Sort of." The officer pulled out her notepad and motioned for him to continue. "Nicole had just stopped into the music shop. My dad owns the place. She walked out. I heard a car horn and tires skidding. By the time I got outside, the car was driving away. I found her laying on the road." He wiped at his eyes.

"Did you see what the car looked like? Any small detail could help."

"Um, yeah. It was a blue SUV. I think it was a Subaru. The license plate was not Ohio. West Virginia, I think. I only saw QYB. I don't know anything else. I'm sorry." The officer wrote down everything Casey told her.

"Thank you so much. Let me know if you think of anything else," she told them and left. Casey's dad came and brought him home after a while. Tyler and Josh sat until around 8pm, when the doctor told them Nicole was stable, and that they could see her.

"Hey, I don't know if you can hear me, but we're here. Me and Tyler. We're right here. Casey was with us before. He saved your life, you know. Please wake up soon." They stayed with her for days, each of them getting very little sleep. Tyler's and Josh's families visited. So did the Chases. Casey was back every single day to check on her. Stacy got her parents to fly her in from Pennsylvania. Everyone Nicole knew visited her. Tyler brought his ukulele and sang for her every day.

"Hey Nicole. It's been 4 months. The doctors say you may never wake up. I just want you to know that it's okay if you don't. All of us really want you to be with us, but if there's somewhere better, you can go. They caught the guy who hit you. He was texting when he hit you. You don't deserve all the bad stuff. The doctors want to take you off life support, so, if you plan on waking up, now would be a great time to do that. Everyone's been stopping in to say their goodbyes. Me and Josh, we don't want to have to say goodbye." Tyler and Josh talked to her nonstop for hours, trying everything to get her to wake up. They finally decided that maybe it would be best to let her go.

The next morning, Tyler and Josh came into the hospital early. The doctors unhooked all the wires from Nicole's body and took the tube out of her mouth. They were about to shut off all the machines when there was a small, raspy voice.

"Hey guys."

The End.

((Okay so that's it. I changed my mind about the epilogue, I'm posting it now. Thank you all so much for reading!!! Have a great day/night, ily <3))
