You woke up to the warm scent of Rogue. There you laid, in bed, with a large grin on your face. There wasn't any reason why you were so happy. For about one week now, you and Rogue had been living together. It was nice returning from a job; being able to run into the arms of someone.

"Morning," you whispered, trying to suppress your giddiness.

There was a long silence. After not receiving a response, you disapproved and rolled over to face your partner. He had wide eyes as if in shock. His lips quivered before speaking. "What...are you...doing here?"

At first, it confused you, your (h/c) brows contorted into a frown. But then you felt pissed. You curled your lips back into a snarl, sitting up in the bed. "What do you mean?" You ask, giving him a chance.

The dragon-slayer also sat up. His back was rigid, and a repulsed expression possessed his pale face. "I don't think you should be here. I-I think I want you to leave."

You didn't need an invitation to go; his facial expression was enough for you to take your leave. "My Mavis!" You snapped, "You—this is beyond embarrassing, Rogue. Why..." You quietened upon feeling his tsundere persona. You bit your lip, pulling the covers off and sliding out of bed. "Why are you asking me this? I-It's a cruel joke."

Rogue looked sympathetically at you. His dark hair then swept over his face so he didn't have to see you. "Sorry," was all he could manage.

You left your boyfriend's apartment—if that's what you could still can him—embarrassed and demeaning. Though fully clothed, you felt like you were walking through the streets naked. You were angry and upset. It was honestly too much difference in emotions for you to handle.

Sandals barely wrapped around your feet, let alone kept you warm. Light snow dusted your toes. It made you grit your teeth, trying to stop yourself from sobbing. It was Christmas.

I don't have anywhere to go... You thought miserably. The snow that once fell peacefully was now combined with sleet-like rain. Soon enough, you began to shiver. This was beyond a joke. What the hell is wrong with Rogue, anyway? He's acting really oddly.

After about half an hour of walking, you finally reached Sabertooth. Perhaps drowning yourself in the company of people and light music would help you forget temporarily.

You found Rufus minding his own business, sitting contently at a table in the corner. He watched you with careful eyes as you sat down beside him.

"Hey, Rufus."

"My lady," he acknowledged, tipping his red hat at you. Pleased, you smiled in return. "How are you?" You mumbled.

The blonde man quirked an eyebrow. "I am fine. But you are not. What seems to be that matter?"

You rested your elbow on the table and allowed your face to collapse into it. "Rogue kicked me out of the apartment."

The memory-make mage seemed to at first be confused. His face contorted; his face squished together, and his eyes narrowed as if he was contemplating on the thought. "That's...oh." He cut himself off. You noticed his face turn a shade whiter, and he seemed to be a lot smaller than before.

It was at that point you became interested. You dropped your arm and leered in closer to the red-dressed man. "What seems to be the matter?" You taunted him, mimicking his previous words, clicking your tongue.

Rufus glanced away for a moment before turning back and coughing. "(Y/n)," he began nervously, "it wasn't my fault. I-I swear. You know how things are. Sting—"

"Sting what?"

"He thought it would be funny if I removed two weeks' worth of Rogue's memories." He insisted, wanting you to not kill him. He began to sweat.

You puffed your cheeks out and sighed. You could not hold a grudge at a man so stupid. "I'm going to get a drink," you said, massaging your temples.

Standing up, you were about to make your way over to the nearest bar, but Rufus grabbed the material of your clothes. "I, myself didn't remember until this morning," he said. "We just...got really drunk. Sorry," came a mumbled.

"I was there too." A new voice entered the conversation. You spun around to see a familiar red-eyed male. "Rogue," you half-heartily greeted, folding your arms across your chest.

"It was only a joke. The effects wore off after I suffered great stress this morning," the dark-haired man admitted in a matter-of-factly tone.

You blinked a few times. "Great stress?"

Rufus coughed, leaving the table to avoid being caught up in your moment.

Rogue took a step forward, placing both hands on your shoulders. He looked into your eyes. "Something felt odd after you left. It wasn't pity or guilt."

"Gee, thanks," you muttered, not being able to stop yourself from rolling your eyes.

"It was emptiness." He put simply. He craned his head to one side, feeling shy.

He continued. "It was odd missing you; at that point. I didn't know why. I didn't have a reason to." You skimmed your (e/c) across the ground. You twisted your foot in semi-circles, making the ground squeak. "Right."

"I wrestled with that confusion for a while, and then I suppose everything came back in chunks."

You then looked up at him with sad eyes. "Rogue. It's Christmas..."

He nodded at your words. Christmas was a difficult time for you. Yes, the cliche; but a true one at that. An event had left you scarred a few years back. Rogue had discovered your small secret at one point and promised to be there. Always.

He caressed your build with strong arms. He pulled you in tight against his cloaked chest and placed a gentle hand on your head. "I promise I won't get carried away like that again."

"Better not." You half-giggled, half-sniffled into your boyfriend. "Can we go back to your apartment? It's cold here."

"Sure."
