I sat in the hotel room and looked out at the Chicago sky line.
As a child it used to hold an air of magic to me.
As a teenager it served as a reminder of my Grandfather.
As a young man it helped me find solace and I knew I would always have a place to return home to.
But now as a man who was waiting for his first child it just pissed me off.
I had just gotten off the phone with Bella, she sounded so disappointed that I couldn't be there tomorrow.
During my pouting my phone rang.
"Edward Cullen here" I barked into the phone severely pissed off.
"Edward its Jenks." He said and I sighed, it was his damn fault I was dragged out here in the first place. "So let's discuss tomorrow." He said and as he did I found myself wondering why I was going to even be there.
"Is it really necessary I be there?" I asked once his speech.
"No. Your uncle said you would want to be here." Jenks said and I felt like screaming.
"He did, did he?" I asked.
"Yeah something about you being very involved in your properties." He said.
"Well Jenks, while I am interested but I have to go back to New York. Something's come up." I explained.
"Of course I'll call you with the details of the closure once the meeting is over."
"Thank you goodbye." I said before hanging up quickly. My first instinct was to call Bella and tell her but then I realised.
Smart, smart man.
And with the backup of Percy I decided to go ahead and make it a surprise.
I picked up my phone and rang the airline.
"Hello this is Edward Cullen I was wondering if I could reschedule my flight for next Friday to tomorrow."
"This is your flight back to New York Mr. Cullen?" a middle aged woman's voice asked.
"Yes." I said tapping my foot impatiently I was going to get to see my child it was bizarre.
"The next flight to New York with available seating will have you in JFK for 11:30 tomorrow." She said. Bella's appointment was 12 it was cutting it pretty tight.
"Is there anything that would get me there earlier?" I asked.
"Sorry Sir." She said.
"I'll take it." I said.
We'll just have to speed again. She's not in the car in this time. Doesn't count.
Fine.
"Of course Sir." She said before confirming my information and emailing the information which I got reception to print out for me. I then started packing before getting crawling into bed for a couple of hours.
When I woke up the next day I was buzzing.
I will take your man card.
Don't care.
I was going to get to see my child. The child I made with Bella the woman of my dreams how could I not be happy about that? While our baby hadn't made on a night of love it had been made up for by the amount of times we had made love since.
Made love? No wonder her brother hates you. He problem thinks you're a woman and Bella's just a scared lesbian who got her girlfriend to get dressed up so it wouldn't look so bad that she pregnant.
