Assassin's Creed Syndicate SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!
Seriously, I know like so many people (mostly on Tumblr) who actually believe Jacob and Roth would make a great couple....
and first time I heard it I was like "ehm... no..."
Like, am I the only one who does not ship those two?
Come on guys...
Jacob is a cinnamon roll, a kind creature... Even if he tries to look tough he is as sweet as a kitten...
Roth is a killer... A psycho sociopath killer...
He put a building filled with children on fire to "stop Starrick's business" even if it is clear that he enjoyed killing.
He put a theater filled with innocent people on fire to punish Jacob for his "betrayal".
He killed a baby crow and put it in a box for the man who "betrayed" him.
He is (or should I say was ?) sick!
I know, I know... Jacob also is a murderer, but I don't think he enjoyed killing innocents...
And I feel obliged to mention that Roth probably tried to use Jacob as a partner in his "I want to bathe in the blood of my victims" crisis, but actually failed to understand that Jacob was not a ruthless killer like him.
So, conclusion:
Even if Roth actually felt an attraction towards Jacob, (as concluded by many during his death scene)
and even if Jacob was attracted to ol' Maxwell at first, he was totally sickened after the "I want to burn children alive, even if there are other ways to send Crawford a message and those children are exploited in workhouses, because HA-HA-HA!!" incident... His anger and disappointment and disgust can be seen clearly in the game...
WARNING!
Don't get me wrong... I love Roth as a character... I believe he is one of the most interesting and well formed in the entire series... And I can't help but adore the fact that he reminds me so much of Edgar Allan Poe. They have the same eccentric style, Poe has written a poem called 'The Raven' which is also in the same family (Corvidae) and genus (Corvus - Corvus, the Trickster, remember?) with the Crow and many describe Poe's stories and himself as 'sick', 'twisted'... You know where this is going.... (Big Poe fan here!)
Conclusion number 2:
Jacob & Roth = <3 ?
Nah...
