A Poem for Women

Walking on campus inspired this, but also one other thing...read below to find out what... I may or may not revise it but this is it... Enjoy!

Ladies,

Your so much more beautiful than you give yourself credit for.

Especially my sisters who carry the Holy Spirit, representing the Lord.

Why do you self yourself short,

By lessening the amount of fabric you wear as if its to impress men more?

Lady, daughter..

Your so much more gorgeous than you give yourself credit for.

Your not some object that should be watched as you walk,

You are a delicate flower that should be held in men's hands with such awe.

But every rose has its thorns,

and its no wonder you draw blood...

You've been held the wrong way,

Men waged war on your innocence, and since then the tears have flood.

All have fallen short but don't throw yourself down to quicken this shame,

Listen this is the day,

To stand up and be proud to say your name,

Not be called outside it...

Beside you is violence but its time you deny it,

I'd fly to the highest to show you your worth

I'd come back fast to dry your tear if you cried it, before it hit the dirt.

Its your mystery that excites me,

Not your thighs but your eyes.

The one thing I am most concerned about getting inside, is your mind!

Listen!

Miss,

Why do you self yourself short?

Your so much more pretty than you give yourself credit for.

Don't fall into the lies;

Your light inside you is most definitely the brightest of shine.

Your virtue is worth much more than words can afford to express,

But your views have been tainted and distorted by stress,

Along with the anxiety of trying to be what you think men want in that dress.

Makeup is a horrible substitute,

Because no falsified additive can earn our respect.

Its your heart and your care,

Your sincerity, not your hair.

Let's make sure that its said with all clarity,

Such mainstream expectation aint fair...

You could be in cleaning attire,

As long as your heart is still gold,

its these that I'd admire,

Its this I desire.

What's attractive is a lady who has a dream and aspires,

One who stands firm with conviction no matter how many may try to bribe her.

Yet, there's nothing flyer than a woman who fears and praises the Lord,

Seek this approval above all else in the middle of such gore.

But again, lady why do you sell yourself short?

You are so much more amazing than you give yourself credit for.

Author's Note: Several guys in my campus ministry inspired this poem, when asked "what do you look for in a woman?"  The answer wasn't that of good looks, money, etc.  The answer was what they didn't like seeing, what made them struggle, and more importantly, how it made them sad to think such beautiful women that God personally created Himself, were being mistreated in both the physically and mentally way of how the World lies to them, telling them they should dress and act a certain way.
