Anna always took the road back home through the woods. It was quicker getting back that way after a long night shift at the diner. Looking at the clock on the dashboard, it was almost midnight. A typical Tuesday night, but the work was nonstop. It was a busy night, and Anna got to know later that half the town's men and women were given a day off from work for organising a blood drive for those suffering from blood loss and are held in the hospital.

For the last few years, the diagnosis of blood loss and blood disorders had increased immensely in town. More people were taken into hospital on a monthly basis. The main issue was obvious, but it was inevitable.

The windows of the car were rolled all the way down for fresh air. Anna sighed evenly as she anticipated a hot bath and warm sheets of blankets awaiting her in her house. She lived alone, and she didn't really need to work since she's inherited an amount of money that could last her a lifetime, but she did it for fun, and that was why she did it better than the rest of the waitresses. She was the best and everyone loved her.

A strange scream sounded outside. Anna pressed on the gas forcefully, the car taking her forward. She waited minutes as she wondered whether the sound was real. Anna waited a minute longer, then got out slowly and looked around. She knew it was not a safe idea to be wandering alone at that time but the pain in the voice was impossible to ignore, and knowing that the town was full of vampires, she went with her instinct.

Anna had one hand on the door handle, pulling it back as the the scream came again only louder begging for help. She took a deep breath and followed it. It sounded very human, and could probably be because of what she thought it was. Anna walked carefully then took a step back when she saw something shift behind one of the long trees. Holding in her breath, she stepped closer and found a man laid face down on the ground. He looked beaten up horribly and was coughing heavily.

"Oh my god!" Anna said under her breath and sat on the ground next to him. As soon as she placed her hand on his back he rolled abruptly revealing an extremly pale face. He was spitting blood everywhere, from his mouth, nose, and wounds down his chest and around his muscled arms. His body shuddered against the ground uncontrollably. His clothes were torn and all blood stained. Anna's heart dropped at the sight, she grabbed his arm and urged him, " Let me help you! my car is not that far! you're losing so much-"

"Blood...I need bl-" the guy chocked out blood from his mouth. His eyes were bloodshot red it was hard to spot his pupils. Anna's heart started racing. The man coughed again miserably, "P-please...your wrist..." His fangs bared out sharp in an instant.

Anna sat distraught as realization hit. Her eyes widened at the sight of large pointy fangs at close that appeared to kill in an instant. As uncommon as it was, this was rather a vampire at harm...and asking for help. Time seemed to freeze, and her thoughts shaky. Anna had never been in such a risky situation before...

The vampire's hands struggled to take hold of something. The scene was horrifying. Anna moved closer in panic, aware of the risk she was taking, and slid her hand in his shaking one. The vampire looked like he was on the verge of literal death as he pressed hard on Anna's hand. She turned to where her car was parked then cursed under her breath. Anna calculated the run back and it felt like the situation would be helpless if the vampire healed, decided to break the law and attack her where no one was watching. Anna felt her heart beat faster, and began to feel shortness of breathe as different scenarios played in her head. She turned to the vampire and observed his face, he did not look like the evil type, but all vampires looked alluring in one way or another. As time passed slow, Anna forced herself to remain strong since she made the decision to stay and help the man bleeding in front of her. The vampire seized her hand more firmly, bringing her complete focus to him, then opened his eyes widely looking at Anna like a demon ready to bite.
