Hi everybody. Yes, okay, I know this chapter took forever. But I've been swamped with homework and college applications. Please find it in your hearts to forgive me? Pretty please?

Newest chapter, titled Home. I'm also going to upload a timeline of this story soon; people have been asking me about the chain of events. Look for that in the next two weeks. One more actual chapter left.

Thanks so much for reading:)

Viewpoint: Danielle. But she could never leave her Best Friend

The ringing continued as Danielle ran down the stairs.

“I’m coming!” she yelled as she threw a sweater on over her tank top and pajama bottoms.

The person holding their finger on the doorbell didn’t pause and Danielle huffed loudly. “One second!!”

She looked around for a pair of flip flops and finally found them by the couch. She slipped them on, hurried to the door, and threw it open. And gaped hugely.

She had dark curly hair and bright, intelligent eyes. Her caramel-colored skin gleamed healthily and her hair shone in the morning sun. Her eyes sparkled with the memories of their friendship. The girl standing on the porch smiled, and her smile was sober and true and let the world know that she was clean for good.

She threw her arms around Danielle and held on on tight; Danielle felt her arms wrapping around Adda’s waist, and she buried her face in Adda’s shoulder. They stood there for what felt like forever, locked in that embrace, crying into each other’s arms.

            “Adda.”

            “I’m home, Dani.”

She didn’t need to hear how it happened; just having her best friend, her sister, healthy and happy was explanation enough.

“I’m sorry, Adda,” she said. “I’m so sorry for giving up on you.”

Adda squeezed her tighter. “You never gave up on me, Dani, never. I gave up on myself. But I’m home. I’m clean and I’m home, and I’m never ever going back to where I was.”

And she meant it. She knew that no matter what happened, no matter what tempted her, she would stay strong, healthy and clean.

“You don’t have to worry about it ever again, Dani. I’m home.”
