I stared at Kait. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, but the answer was pretty clear. If I didn't go, her guardian would kill me. But the truth is, even if she wouldn't kill me I would have still gone. It wasn't because she had these cool awesome powers, or even because she was royalty. I would go because it was her. Simply, her.
I knew I had feelings for her since I saw her, and that grew over time. It was only a couple of months but I felt so close to her I don't think I would ever find anyone at all I would feel the same way about. So I said yes, I held her hand and told her that I would go anywhere with her. I was curious as to how this would go, where we would end up, what I would see when I went to her world. She smiled and kissed me. When our lips parted I looked her in her eyes and I knew this would be good.
"Oh, I forgot to ask. What would happen if the rebels got the marble?" I asked, I had wanted to know but I forgot about it in the moment we just had. Her face looked grim and then she said what I absolutely did not expect.
"The world as you know it would end."

"What? What do you mean? How?" I asked, rattling off each question one behind the other, "How could something from your world affect mine?"
"The reality marble is ...mystical, ancient. It has powers beyond anyone's comprehension. It contains the foundation of whatever reality it is exposed to. A blueprint if you will. That's why the rebels wanted it. If they gained power over the marble, then they could essentially reshape the entire reality of our world anyway they chose. By coming here to escape them I put your world in danger as well." She said, "I wasn't thinking when I made the jump, I only had one thing on my mind and that was to get away from the rebels.
"Because I came here, the reality marble now has the foundation or blueprint of this world's reality. So if the rebels get it, they can reshape your world as well."
"Why can't you destroy it?"
"The marble doesn't only absorb the foundation of the reality its exposed to Declan, it BECOMES the foundation. So If it is destroyed, then the worlds that it contains the foundation for are destroyed as well."
I sat and tried to take in what Kait was saying to me. Basically, it was one big cluster fuck of a situation. There was no choice but to trust Kait and her family now, because if the rebels get the marble, our world is screwed. And if we destroy the marble, our world is screwed. Suddenly this became so much bigger than Kaitlyn and I. This encompassed two whole worlds. With billions of people, all unknowingly in danger. I stuffed some more pancakes into my mouth and drank my orange juice.
"Well what are we sitting around here for? We've got to go." Raksha smiled and went into the other room for Kait's things.
"So where do we go now?" I asked, "If Raksha can't make another rift to make the jump then how will we get to your world?"
Kait explained that there's always one point in each dimension that acts as a bridge between worlds, as long as one knows how to find it. Since she had the reality marble, she could look to see where the existing one was in this world and if there was none, she could even create one. She closed her eyes and when she opened them they were glowing blue again. She cupped her hands and held them in front of her.
Spiralling white light flashed from her hand, forming a circle in the middle of her hand. The lights swirled and swirled, erupting into different colours until they all blended together to form a dark rotating orb. This must be the reality marble.
Raksha came up beside me and whispered that Kait was one of the few people in her world who could conjure and read information from the reality marble. I smiled and looked on in awe, I knew she was special, but she went way beyond what I could even imagine.
