So here I was. Splinters in my ass, hands behind my back and completely clueless as fuck as to why any of this was happening to me. All I knew was that it seemed to be tied to whoever was on the other end of the call. She seemed to have something called a "reality marble" that this guy wanted. I laughed at the fact that I'm being held hostage for a freaking marble.
I looked at the ceiling and waited, and waited, and waited. Whoever that person was, it was obvious they weren't coming. The doors to the factory opened and a girl stepped through with an older, but still attractive, woman dressed in a black turtle neck with dark pants and flat shoes. She had two blades at her back.
The man's voice behind me roared at the sight of the older woman, "Guardian!"
His eyes glowed red. He pulled a blade and made an attempt to stab me in my chest, but in an instant, the older woman was in front of me, parrying his blade and pushing him back. The man roared in anger at this.
"Get the human out of here, Kait. Ill handle this one." The older woman said, her two blades in her hand emitting sparks. The girl she called Kait rushed over and cut the ropes from my hand. I looked at her face and something sparked in my head. I knew her, but...where?
"Do I know you??" I asked, she helped me up and told me she would explain everything.
I looked back to see the older woman walking towards the man, who was now bleeding. He apparently took a beating in the short time I wasn't paying attention.
He howled his rage and promises of vengeance at us, as the older woman ran him through with her blade. He remained on his knees for a while then he seemed to be sucked into the sword that ran him through. This was one weird night.

The next morning, I was greeted with smiles from the girl called Kait. She held breakfast in her hands, standard pancakes, maple syrup with orange juice on the side.
"Good morning." She said. I returned the greeting, wary of her. She saved my life but she was also the reason I was in that mess in the first place. I had a couple bites of the pancakes, they were good. I set the tray aside and I asked her who she was and what the hell I saw last night. The older woman walked into the room and stood in a corner, looking out the window.
"We don't have time for this Kait. Kill him or get on with it." The older woman said. I looked over to her then back at Kait, eyes widening. Kill me??
Kait, as If reading my mind, reassured me that no one was getting killed. She smiled and told me that she would explain everything but there was something she had to do first. She raised her hand to my forehead and I grabbed it, recoiling.
"It's ok, Declan. I won't hurt you." She said. Did she know me? If she did, how? The strange part of it was that I trusted her. I knew she wouldn't hurt me. How I knew this, I don't know, but I did. I released her hand and she lay it on my forehead. Her eyes glowed blue and she smiled.
It was like waking up from a dream. A bad dream, one where I didn't know Kait and there was someone who kidnapped me and tried to kill me. It took me a few seconds to realise all of that actually happened. I looked at Kait and she said she was going to explain, asking me not to freak out at what I was about to hear. I nodded.
She told me that she was actually a member of a royal family, tasked with transporting what could very well be the most important item in the world. The same item I almost got killed over, the reality marble. She explained that she was not from this world, and when I asked her to elaborate she told me that she was from another dimension. In her world there was a war going on between the rebel faction and the royal family. The war was for the reality marble that she had in her possession, the last remaining one in her world.
She went to some sacred grounds that the royal family had hidden the marble and on her way back the rebels ambushed her. The only way she survived was by using her guardian (the woman now standing in the corner, watching me with some serious hawk eyes) to open a rift in the dimensions so she could enter our world. Some of the rebels got through though and they were after her.
"So why don't you ask your guardian to get u back home?"
"I can't, the first time she did it weakened her severely. I don't think we can do it again. Guardians have a very limited lifespan. They only stay here for as long as their energy is with them. Creating a rift like that to travel across dimensions uses a lot of power, I'm actually surprised she's still here. It was a careless order but I couldn't think of anything else." She looked over to her guardian apologetically.
"This now involves you Declan. If I leave you here, they'll just kidnap you again and I can't let that happen. If you don't come with me, Raksha will have to kill you," She looked over to her guardian, so Raksha was her name, "and I couldn't bear that if it happened. So please, come with me."
