I awoke to blinding pain at the back of my head and slurred voices all around me. Two distinct voices actually, one of which belonged to Kait. Kait.... KAIT!
I shot up, suddenly remembering what had happened. My vision was still a bit blurry but I saw Kait coming closer to me, telling me to calm down. Saying it's okay. I grabbed my head, the pain got worse for a second.
"What the hell happened?" I said, opening one eye, my hand over the other.
"Ummmm." She dragged. Yeah, I wouldn't know what to say if it was me either.
A woman walked into the room holding a basin with what I assumed was water. She walked over to me and put the cloth on the back of my head. It was soothing. She shot Kait a look and I was assuming she wasn't happy at all with the situation.
Kait sighed. "Why'd you have to follow me." She said under her breath.
"I'm a ver-"
"Very curious person. Yes, I know." She finished, shaking her head, a smile creeping on her face. The smile didn't last long though, something flashed on her mind and it made the smile disappear. She sat stroking my hair, as if memorizing the feel of it.
"Why do I get the feeling I'm not going to like what you say next?" I asked.
"You won't. I have two options, kill you or leave you. You know which one I'm going to choose."
I sat up, what was she talking about? Kill me? I asked her about the night before, slowly. She told me she couldn't tell me. That if she did I'd be in danger. So she had to leave me. She hugged me and apologised. After getting to know her I found out she could be a real softy. I should be the one apologizing. If I hadn't follow her none of this would have happened. She kissed me then, the first real admission of feelings for me in all the time we've known each other. So, it wasn't one sided after all.
Later that night I woke up in an empty house, I couldn't remember why I was there or how I even got there for that matter. I only knew that I was unconscious earlier and that I felt ... sad. Like a part of me was missing, but I didn't know why. I got up and walked out of the house, making my way home. I was half-way through the woods when for the second time that day I was knocked unconscious.
**************************************
My eyes opened to a completely different scenery from the first time I rose from the dark clutches of unconsciousness. The room was dark except for one solitary window to the side of wherever I was. I opened my eyes and the room spun, I shut them back quickly. This could not be healthy, unconscious twice in a day? Certainly didn't sound healthy.
"Hello?" I called, panic starting to set in. "What is this?"
"Be quiet." A voice said. A deep, dark, rasping voice. My hands were tied behind my back, I was seated on a wooden chair, the splinters poking me in the ass. So not only was I kidnapped, I was uncomfortable too. Wonderful. The owner of the voice came over and took out my cell phone, dialling a number.
"Declan?" I heard a girl's voice on the other end of the line. What was this about? The voice sounded familiar, but I couldn't place it.
The man told her to come to the abandoned factory on old Vickerman's lane. So that's where I was? I panicked even more, if this was where I was then if anything should happen to me they wouldn't find my body for months. No one ever came up here.
"Bring the reality marble, or your boyfriend will die." Boyfriend?
*beep*
He hung up the phone.
