"What's taking them so long?" Manny asked.

"Who knows," I shrugged. "I just hope they find out the problem and fix it."

NyLina, Trebian, Manny, Uncle Myles, NyLeigh, and I were all in the waiting room for an hour now waiting for a word on Arihah.

Manny kept asking questions so I knew he was nervous. I was a little nervous but who wouldn't be? It was so much going on right now I think all of us was on edge for different reasons. None of us were really safe at the moment so it caused Uncle Myles and Jason to be stressed out along with the other uncles.

"Family of Arihah Dawes?" I looked up to see a short caucasian woman with dusty brown hair and a white doctors coat on that went pass her short dress so all you could see was her legs and black heels.

We all got up and walked to her and she moved her clipboard to the side of her. "Hi I'm Doctor Jane!"

"Is she alright?" NyLina asked.

The doctor nodded. "Yes she will be fine. She is suffering from pre-elcampsia which resulted in her having constant headaches and abdominal pains. Pre-eclampsia usually happens after twenty weeks and can be caused by a few things. In her case, very high blood pressure was the reason."

"How's the baby?" Trey asked, skeptical.

"He's fine but we have to watch her and him because if Arihah's health doesn't improve in the next forty-eight hours then she could be induced. If she does improve then she'll be able to go home but she will be on bed rest and we will have to monitor her from the hospital until the baby is mature enough."

"I've heard about eclampsia before but I thought this was something that happens after birth?" Her mom questioned.

"Yes that can be the case but like I said this is pre-eclampsia and if her blood pressure continues to rise she possibly could suffer from eclampsia after birth. At first when we were running test on her we thought the cause was because of proteinuria but it isn't."

"I've never heard of that before in my life. Evaluate please." Manny spoke up.

Evaluate?

"Son, I think you meant elaborate," Uncle Myles looked at him before rubbing his hands over his eyes. "Lord Jesus bless the kids these days," he sighed.

The doctor chuckled. "Proteinuria is when there's protein in the urine which can be signs of an kidney disease."

"Wait so protein shouldn't be in the urine?" He responded looking confused.

"Let me rephrase that. It's when there's abnormal protein in the urine, a small amount is fine."

"Oh okay thanks doc."

"You're welcome," she smiled at him.

Maybe it was just my eyes but I think she was checking him out the whole time we were standing here. I glanced at the ring on her ring finger and shook my head.

"Can we see her now?" I asked.

"Yes but she's probably asleep from the medicine we gave her. She's in room 312," Her attention turned to NyLina. "I'll be in there in a few to check on her and since you're her mother I would like to inform you on some more things."
