Part 7 – Tempests
"And there is not a thing but glorifies His praise."
~Surah Al -Isra, verse 44.
Three months had passed since Fadiyah apologised to Faraaz. Many things changed in those three months. She barely noticed how fast time flew by, as it was four months that she was in Sunnington. She missed her parents awfully, but she called them as much as she could because they were hardly at home now that they took international flights as pilots.
Zunairah and Aaban both started school in January. Fadiyah had taken Zunairah shopping for all her necessities a town over with a bigger selection of shops for her stationery, as well as enough choices for her uniform.
While there had been a positive change in their relationship, Fadiyah was still wary of Zunairah. Fadiyah suspected that Zunairah was only interested in Fadiyah's close relationship with Faraaz, so she kept her mouth shut on any matter that pertained to Faraaz. Which seemed to make Zunairah talk less to Fadiyah.
Aaban had irritably confessed to Fadiyah that Zunairah began pestering him for information regarding Fadiyah and Faraaz. Fadiyah had taken him out for an ice cream and calmed him down before she advised him to simply smile and tell Zunairah that they were good.
Once Fadiyah no longer had Aaban around for entertainment and fun at Faraaz's house, she was lonely but she and Faraaz had used the time to bond and learn about one another as much as they could -as much as she was willingly to share about her life. The drive was no longer as fun for her to go to Faraaz's house without Aaban chatting her ear off. However, he managed to find a plausible excuse to spend as much time with her as possible by adopting her as his unofficial tutor. After Nazia noticed that Aaban was doing well in school and staying focused, as well as eating healthily without complaint, she sent Armaan for tutoring to Fadiyah and began paying her forcibly.
In addition to them paying her, Faraaz had started paying her too because she decided to take a gap year. She was earning as much as Waqqaar -a trained and qualified nurse -was earning, which she deemed unfair. When she found out and questioned Faraaz on it, he said it was because she was taking care of him and offering him company when she could be doing something more productive with her life.
When the first deposit was made -she was shocked -and called her parents bubbling with excitement to thank them for the generous spending they transferred to her account. She spoke to them for a while before she casually thanked them for the hefty deposit, but they slowly crushed her dreams when they told her that they hadn't transferred anything yet as they hadn't had the time to do so. "Sorry, love, as much as daddy and I wanted to transfer, we have been very, very busy with extra paperwork because of all these planes that are going missing. We promise, baby, that we will transfer the money tonight, okay, love?" her mother told her apologetically.
She nodded sadly, then realised that her mother couldn't see her. "Jee, mummy, don't worry. I've been earning some money."
Her mother chuckled. "Yes, so I have heard. From that cute, little boy you showed me the last time? Aaban?"
"Jee, he and his brother are now being tutored by me. Their mother insists on paying me, so I let her transfer whatever it is that she wants into my bank account. Aaban is such an angel, how could I tell him that I don't want to tutor him? Besides, he comes there and he has been eating more and more fruit. I have started stocking up on more fruits for him and Nana."
