Part 16 – Fiercely Fadiyah
Reading Qur'aan together had become another part of their daily ritual. One other new development was their sleeping arrangements, after months of marriage and familiarity between Faraaz and Fadiyah, Faraaz asked her to move into his room since the night she fell asleep next to him. Without saying a word to her, both Jacob and Waqqaar moved her things into Faraaz's tiny room near the stairs. Realistically, they should have both moved the couple into the master room, but it was to make things and easier on Faraaz. Faraaz required 24-hour assistance and by moving him further upstairs would make life more complicated and more difficult for everyone involved. However, no one suggested that they move him into the master room.
When Fadiyah found out that they had moved all her things into Faraaz's room, she blushed a furious red and had a little freak out at the thought of them going through her clothing and underwear, but when they informed her that they knew her well-enough that they would never dare to anger her that way and that they left her clothing and underwear where they were, she felt guilty. After apologizing profusely, Fadiyah quickly packed her clothing and underwear away before preparing a feast for the men.
Fadiyah prepared the table for Jacob and Waqqaar, setting everything that they would need before she dished one plate for her and Faraaz and filling it with everything that she made. On the huge tray, was one plate filled with mutton curry heaped with folded rotis and a fresh green salad, one glass, juice and garlic bread. Without even making a move, Waqqaar got up and took the tray from her.
"No ..." her denial died on her lips as he swept the filled try out of her reach. "I can carry it," she insisted stubbornly.
With a laugh and a shake of his head, Waqqaar gestured for her to go first. "Well, Ms Fadiyah, so can I."
Fadiyah glared at the tall man over her shoulder as she angrily marched up the stairs. "I'm not incapable," she argued.
"But you are a lady, and I was brought up to be a gentleman."
She huffed and then entered Faraaz's room, where after she pressed a light kiss to his forehead and brushed back his long hair, she sunk onto the empty space near his feet. He glanced over at Fadiyah's sullen face and then laughed when he saw Waqqar walk in with the tray just after her. "Why are you upsetting my little kitten, Waqqaar?"
Still chuckling at the cute sight that Fadiyah made in her anger, Waqqaar placed the tray on the bed near Fadiyah and checked over Faraaz before finally answering. "Your wife still gets angry when anyone tries to help her carry up the heavy tray," he explained before he put Faraaz's medication on the side table. "Anyway, I'm going to go down and eat. I'll be back to clear up."
Once they were left alone, Faraaz turned his head as much as he could – as he was slowly and steadily improving with all the rehabilitative therapy that he was receiving – and looked at Fadiyah. "What's wrong my sweet, little angry kitten?"
Sensing that Faraaz was in a teasing mood and that she wasn't, Fadiyah just shook her head and reached for the heavy tray. "I can carry this tray up to the room, but both Waqqaar and Jacob feel that I can't."
