Chapter 3 – First Meetings

Bipasha didn’t know how Auntie did it but she managed to secure a seat for the flight to Canada on such a short notice. Additionally, Auntie was paying 55% of the cost for this trip. Out of curiosity, Bipasha had gone online to check the price of the airline tickets. They were expensive. This further confirmed her suspicions that Auntie was rich.

Why is Auntie helping me? What is she going to get from helping me? Bipasha couldn’t help but wonder.

She had already checked in her luggage and gone past the immigration. There were many empty seats around the waiting area but Bipasha resisted the urge to sit on any one of them. After all, she was going to be sitting for the next nineteen or so hours. Bipasha blew a breath out of her mouth at the thought of having to sit so long, first class or not. She had brought a few books along but she didn’t know how helpful they would be. Thinking about the flight lead her thoughts to the trip ahead. Nervousness for the next few months returned with a vengeance. Earlier on, Bipasha had managed to convince herself that everything would be fine but who was she kidding? She had signed herself up to spend the next three months with a stranger. She hadn’t even informed her parents or friends before taking off! What was she thinking? She started to be overcome with panic. Maybe she should just back out. Looking around frantically, she spotted a few exit signs. Slowly, she made her way towards them. Her progress was slow and she was shaking a lot. Surprisingly, no one seem to take notice of her weird behaviour. Bipasha opened her mouth but no sound seemed to come out. She was already 75% on her way towards the exit when the speakers came to life.

She spoke politely and slowly. “First class passengers taking the flight to Vancouver International Airport are kindly requested to make their way to the entrance of the plane cabins now.” Just then, Bipasha collided into someone.

“Oh, I am so sorry,” Bipasha immediately blurted as her black-brown eyes flew to the grey ones of a stranger. She looked at him, her mouth agape. He was saying something but he couldn’t focus.

The stranger waved his hands in front of her face. “Ma’am? You listening?”

Snapping out of the trance she had gone into, Bipasha sent the attractive stranger an embarrassed look. “I’m sorry. Were you saying something?”

He chuckled, “No, it is fine. I was apologising for bumping into you.”

“No, no. That was totally my fault.”

“No, it was mine.”

“You don’t know that.”

“Well, neither do you.” They stared at each other for a while before they burst out laughing. “Okay fine. Let’s agree to disagree. It was both of our faults.”

Extending her hand, Bipasha offered, “Deal.” The stranger took her hand and brought it up to his face. Then, he turned her palm over and kissed it in the middle. The sensation made Bipasha shiver and she gasped out loud. His beautiful eyes snapped to hers. They were twinkling with mirth. Uncomfortable, Bipasha slowly removed her hand from his grasp and brought it down to her side.

“I’m Neerav,” he murmured. “Neerav Sharma.” He saw surprise clouding her features before an electrifying smile graced her face. She trailed her gaze up and done his body. It was few seconds before he interrupted her perusal. “Not up to your standards?”

She laughed sheepishly before replying, “No, I didn’t know you were Indian. So, I was checking to see the Indian-ness in your looks. Anyway, I am Bipasha. It’s nice to meet you.”

Neerav opened his mouth to speak but then the speakers blared to life with another announcement for the first class passengers to make their way to the plane entrance. Both of them listened to the instructions quietly. Once the announcement ended, Bipasha said, “Look Neerav, I have to go now. I hope to see you again.” She threw him a dazzling smile and then jogged away. That smile threw him off. She looked a million times more attractive when she smiled. Neerav was so tempted to tell her that. Alas, he could not now. She had already gone away.

Stupid neurons for going crazy at her smile.

Shaking his head to remove thoughts of her from his mind, he slowly strutted his way to the gate.

DISCLAIMER: Vancouver International Airport exists. I checked it up online. For the purpose of my story, the flights, events and whatnot are PURELY fictional.
