Chapter 10 – Answers

“I ‘bumped’ into her a while back,” Auntie said.

“You mean that was on purpose?” Bipasha asked. A look of disbelief graced her face.

“What else? I am not that clumsy, dear.”

“Why?”

Auntie frowned. “Because I am careful and graceful, if I say so myself. Unfortunately, you aren’t.” She pulled at her clothing as if to straighten them out.

“No! I meant, why did you bump into me?”

“You needed my help.” Where Auntie’s face was calm and composed, Bipasha’s looked like she could not think anymore. Neerav stared between the both of them in confusion.

“Well then, in what way did I need your help?” Bipasha shot back.

“That guy was not the right one for you. He did not care for you at all.” Bipasha opened her mouth in retort but Auntie continued fiercely. “Hush, beti[1]. You know it. Your life would have been miserable with him. Thank God you were clumsy enough to drop your food onto him.”

Bipasha sputtered. She was having trouble finding the right words to say. Neerav finally decided to speak up. “Auntie, what is going on?”

Auntie took a deep breath before speaking. Bipasha was finally looking a little calm. “Two years back-.”
