It was a normal Friday.

The walk home was cold and quiet. I left my headphones and my soccer ball somewhere, i just don't know where. When I get home the house is completely empty.

I get a text as I walk into my room.

FROM: MOM

I'll be home late.

Great.

I change into my shorts and pull on a light blue hoodie. My bag is nowhere to be found. I pull some sweat pants over my shorts so Matt won't flip out.

I grab my extra pair of earbuds and my phone and leave the house. I walk the short distance to my brother Matt's house; that's probably where my bag is. When I get to the door I turn the handle and it's unlocked, like always. I walk in and find Matt in the kitchen with another guy who looks a few years older than me. and Matt's girlfriend Madison. I can't stsnd her.

Matt turns his head and looks at me. "Hey kid!" Matt exclaims obviously trying to cover up whatever it is they were talking about.

"Hey, is my bag here?" I ask.

He looks at me funny.

"It's in the hall closet," Madison says in her very annoying voice.

"Thanks," I say awkwardly.

Matt follows me down the hall. "Jess you're not playing tonight are you?" he asks.

"No," I lie. "I just need my bsg because my brace is in my bag and I need my brace when I run," I say.

I really was going to run.

He opens the closet and hands me the bag, and my soccer ball. "Thank you," I say walking back into the kitchen.

I grab a bottle of water. "Why are you still here?" Madison spits.

"This is my brothers house, if I rember," I say.

She opens her mouth to say something but Matt walks in. He walks over to her. He starts to whisper in her ear. She rolls her eyes then pulls away, she walks out of the room.

"I don't know what you see in her," I say.

"She's not that bad Jess," he argues.

"Matt, the girl is a class a bitch," I say.

The other boy laughs. Matt looks at him, the guy clears his throat.

"Yeah. I. uhh. I'm gonna shut up," he says.

I laugh. "Jess this is my friend Harry," he says.

"Hi," I say. He smiles and waves.

"Idiot," Matt says under his breath.

"Was he cute?" my bestfriend Amanda asked. She was always going on about guys.

"Not really," I say.

I pull my brace out of my bag, and strap it on my leg. It starts at my mid thigh and goes the the bottom of my knee.

"You sure you're ready for this?" Amanda asks.

"I'm fine. I promise," I say.

I pull my hoodie over my head and accidentaly bump into someone. "I'm sorry," we both say at the same time.

I turn around and it's Harry my brother standing next to him.

BUSTED.

"What are you doing here?" I ask.
