Two weeks later and Jackson, Mark and I have gotten into the habit of hanging out after work almost every day, when they weren't at school or I wasn't busy looking for a second job. Usually we just ended up riding with Jackson, playing car games and singing loudly to whatever played. Where the man was getting the gas money to drive us around town was beyond my comprehension but far be it from me to question how he spends or earns his money when I barely have any.

Today he decided to change things up- saying "you need to get out more!" And some other things about being a cat lady with no man as he drove a little farther. Ten minutes after picking up two other guys- BamBam and Namjoon- we sat in the parking lot of a large restaurant I'd never even heard of.

"Little Kickers?" I read.

Mark patted my arm. "His girlfriend works here."

"She is not my girlfriend!" Jackson nearly screamed defensively.

"I was talking about NamJoon and Nita," Mark retorted.

BamBam snickered against my arm and I flinched, still not used to his new little persona. In high school he was just a little whiny freshman I occasionally spoke to or walked to his next class until he started hanging out with some tall Mexican kid. After that we didn't see one another as often. Now he was this long legged all black wearing...I don't even know.

Jackson and Namjoon were talking while listening to music loudly the whole time so the entire car ride was fifteen minutes of BamBam and Mark resting their heads on my shoulders or picking with me while I watched "C-Dramas" on my phone.

"Can we get out now? It's hot as hell and I'm not comfortable being the only female in a car full of men."

BamBam loomed over me, putting me on edge. "I'm sorry, baby, do I make you uncomfortable?" His voice got real soft and I cringed.

"UGH! Boy, get yo-"

Mark muffed BamBam as he opened the door, dragging me out. "Stay in yo lane!"

"Wait!"

"Last one out of the car is a rotten egg!" Jackson called, his door already open.

Namjoon jumped out next. "Aw, you're disgusting! He farted!"

I heard BamBam screaming in the back seat, apparently locked in, as Mark dragged me through the doors giggling.

Nice to meet you, Katya," their female friend, Jeongyeon, smiled knowingly, "I've heard a lot about you, from Mark especially."

My brow raised and he choked on his tortilla chips. "No, I was correcting Jackson because he kept making shit up!"

Thomas, Nayeon's boyfriend, chuckled and Jackson scoffed, removing his arm from around his friend JooHeon's shoulders. "I was not!"

"You said she was in love with you."

My head whipped around to stare at Jackson, waiting for his answer, and he held a blank expression as he chewed with a stuffed mouth, all eyes on him.

"Oh, no rebuttal?" I asked sarcastically.

"Shhe thinss no won lihs meh!" He coughed.

"You look like my uncle," Jeongyeon said in disgust.

"Swallow your food first! Korean washed ass..." BamBam chuckled at JooHeon's words while NamJoon was patting Jackson's back and chuckling when the goofball started genuinely choking.

"Oh no, you not about to choke your way outta this one, you Russian whore! What's your excuse?"

He choked even harder at my jab and laughed at the same time. "Stahp!"

"Karma!" I shouted back.

The sound of clattering dishes and a growl caught everyone's attention.

"What the f-?! Jeremy!"

We all glanced up at the gruff tone of a patron as a waiter stood near their table holding an empty tray, all of its contents scattered on the floor, his shoes, and his uniform.

Jackson spit everything into a napkin and jumped up. "JB!" He slid out of the booth and practically ran over to help the guy out. Hearing the name alone brought back faint memories of high school but I'd been told he moved back to Korea for a girl over three years ago. Wasn't like I knew him at all, he left not long after Jackson had started teasing me almost daily.

"Is that a Little Kicker's uniform?" NamJoon asked. Mark turned to see for himself and NamJoon tilted his head. "When did he start working here?"

"He's been here since before I got here," Nayeon answered.

"Speaking of, shouldn't you girls be on stage by now?" BamBam asked.

Jeongyeon scoffed. "I bet you'd just love for us to leave so you can start talking dirty again." She pretended to start to backhand him and he flinched, hard.

"Noona-"

I watched blankly as Jackson helped JB clean the mess despite his friend's opposition and the two carried everything back to the kitchen. They were halfway there when a hand landed on my shoulder.

I turned back to Mark. "Who's JB?" I asked. His back had been to me the entire time so I didn't want to make assumptions.

"I guess you guys went to school with him. Jackson said they were best friends up until JB moved and they lost all contact with one another, but I guess he came back."

"Where's his wife?" BamBam asked while attempting to slyly wrap an arm around my shoulders. I was gonna call him on it but his question was far more interesting.

"He's obviously working, they ain't joined at the hip," JooHeon said, then leaned into NamJoon. "That's not how marriage works, right?"

NamJoon shook his head and cut his eyes at JooHeon. "Why do you always ask me these silly ass questions?"

"He's not married," Nayeon stated. "He was just engaged to this Japanese girl. Then she called it off and disappeared so he came back here."

"How do you know so much about him?" Nayeon's boyfriend, Thomas, finally spoke, his dark brown eyes displaying a hint of jealousy.

Nayeon shrugged innocently. "I asked around for a friend."

"Why do girls do that?" JooHeon asked.

" It's confusing," Mark added.

"Right. We think one girl is interested and then get clowned because the one who seemed interested is just a decoy," NamJoon chimed in.

Nita, who was sitting right against his side, backed up slightly before sitting back in place with a mock haughty expression. "This is why women are superior."

"Not to be sexist but I know three films off the bat that can prove otherwise," I said, raising a hand just to stir the pot. NamJoon gave me an appreciative but subtle nod and Jeongyeon's random high five put a smirk on my face as the other girls started disagreeing, which then somehow randomly led to "Movie Night: Battle of the Sexes" at NamJoon's.
