JAEBEOM
"You're an ass."
I sucked my teeth, covering JaeJun's ears as he chewed happily on chicken tenders from the restaurant Jackson asked for us to meet him at.
"Watch your mouth. He's still learning English, if I wanted him to talk like that I'd ask my brother to teach him."
Jackson looked at JaeJun and gasped, caressing his head. "I'm sorry, JaeJunnie! Here." He whipped out a five dollar bill and stuffed it into the breast pocket of JaeJun's overalls.
"Whenever an adult swears they're supposed to put money in the swear jar because its bad luck for the kids to hear. You put that in your own when you get home and soon you'll be so rich you'll be able to buy this restaurant, so you can have these chicken strips made at home whenever you want."
"Okay!" JaeJun nodded, still chewing away.
Jackson pinched his cheek and smiled. "But you should also eat fruits and veggies, and organic foods, at least when you're older, so you can be big and strong like me....and Appa."
"Oh," JaeJun called, "Are you Prince Charming?" That was a mouthful for him, but he managed just fine.
Jackson smirked and I snorted. "A prince?"
JaeJun took another bite and muffled, "he talks pretty."
Sounds like something my mother taught him.
A chunk of meat flew from my son's mouth as he spoke and I grabbed a napkin to wipe it off of the table, tsking. "JaeJun-ah, swallow before you speak."
He started to struggle and choke and I patted his back. "Chew it first!"
"Hey, sweet face." The waitress reappeared with napkins and a pitcher of lemonade along with a juicebox for JaeJun. "You gotta slow down, okay?"
JaeJun nodded and she caressed the back of his head before standing back up straight. My eyes went straight to a name tag that read "RAYA" just before she wandered off again.
"You seriously hurt Katya's feelings."
I glanced up at Jackson as he shoveled some of his weird salad into his mouth.
"And....peed her off." His eyes flicked to JaeJun quickly. "Are you jealous or something? I never knew you were into her, I could've set y'all up before you fu-"
"Okay, enough." I rolled my eyes. "I'll apologize if I have to, just stop talking."
Jackson gave me a stupid smile and I scowled. "What?" He pretended to cry, covering his mouth. "You've grown up so much. It's like you're another person." I sucked my teeth and threw a French fry at him. "Just the thought alone of you apologizing when you're wrong..."
"I never said I was wrong- she's a babysitter, she shouldn't be running around with my kid in her arms to answer the phone....especially for you." It was evident they weren't together in that sense, but I wouldn't let them turn me into the bad guy. I flicked my eyes up and down, sizing him up.
He rolled his eyes playfully. "Boy, chill. No need to get jealous, I'll always be her main." He sobered up slightly when my expression didn't change the least bit, "and, it wasn't me calling. But regardless, apologize. Seriously. You just officially met, right?"
