It all started on January 8th...
My boyfriend and my anniversary, We were going to celebrate it by having a Death Note marathon. This anime was my favourite tv show of all and luckaly my man happened to like it too.
I lay on my bed. My room was full with tealights in coloured glasses. It was about five in the evening so if I opened the curtains I didn't need the lights, but it was nice. The grey winterclouds weren't very appealing anyway. My Ipod played the one song that helped me focus on nothing in particular. Say yes by Elliott Smith. His soft voice seemed to calm me down. The last few days were not meant for the average seventeen year old. But it was going to be okay. That was what I told myself when I walked in the cold two full hours this morning.
The frontdoor slammed.
"Ah, dad's home." I smiled and ran downstaires. There I saw my dad holding a suitcase and his guitarbag.
My dad looked tired as usual. The fatigued expression on his face grew use to be when he had to stay up several nights until late in the morning this month. Collegestudents and such booked him for a couple shows. The colleges in London have only one rule. 'You don't get drunk or stoned without music on the background.' But I was sure my dad had rules too. The tiny fridge in the studio had always five bottles of beer. Around new year the fridge stayed untouched and his alcohol addiction then pretended to like coffee. New year was the time of the year my dad had to work. Period. His grey/blonde hair was messy and his clothes were drenched in sweat. He was holding his bag as if they were filled with rocks. Which was probably true since his sleepy head caused him to not look straight.
"Venice?" Dad muttered when he saw me on the staircase in our huge house.
"DAD! When was the last time you've slept? You look like you're going to faint." I asked worried as I ran down the stairs, gave him a kiss on his cheek and ripped the two bags out of his hands.
"Mhm." He purred. I placed his guitar back where it usually was and his suitcase on the floor.
"How are you?" I asked.
"Tired." He replied.
"Do you want some tea? I bought 'sleepytime' tea when you were in Sheffield. That was Thursday, right?"
"Mhmm" Dad muttered.
"You know, I still don't understand why students would book you on a Thursday. Like, do they want to spare their Friday night or something? 'C'mon guys! We've been to concerts on Fridays too many times. Let's try something ne-."
I saw tmy father fell asleep on the cough, not even bothering to turn the lights off or even to take off his shoes. Secretsly I wished he noticed the house more clean than usual. But I swollowed and left him alone.
When I warmed up lasagna from three days ago the doorbell rang. My dad woke up with a jerk.
"That's for me!"
"Venice?"
"Hm?"
"Be nice to eachother." He told me weakily.
When Lyon and I planned on doing something together he usually texted me first. But today he did something different. Matter of fact, he didn't bother to let me know when he was coming. He just left a voicemail saying he'd be there. It didn't bother me that much but his sudden change of actions made my stomach turn.
