Chapter 2: What the Hell is Fantasy?

When I woke up I was propped up under a huge tree, this tree had a breath taken gold glow around it. The leaves were beautiful vibrant shades of red, yellow, orange, green and a few special golden leaves; the trunk of the tree was a warm milk chocolate brown.  It was starting to get dark out, and there was no one to be found. I noticed I was wearing a gold cami, with a multi-layered skirt. The bottom layer was black then a multi-colored red, yellow, orange, and green layer. I had gold leggings, black ballet flats, and on my head wasn’t a tiara more like a headband across my forehead. It was made of intertwined skinny pieces of wood with a medium sized gold gem in the middle with miniature leaves (red, yellow, orange, and green) two on either side of the gem. My hair was long and in a side braid, but I felt that my ears were slightly pointed; also I had tons of scratches and bruises (but my leg seemed to be healed; now all that’s left is a VERY noticeable scar.) I felt something on my back and realized it was a bow and quiver and on my side in my belt a dagger that was silver blade with a gold hilt and encrusted diamonds. I vowed to myself right then and there I will never use it. Then a girl about my age walked over to me, she was surprisingly tall, really skinny, with blonde hair that was long and wavy, she also, had sparkling grey eyes. She was wearing a long light-looking white dress that covered her feet, a brown leather corset, and brown leather boots. On her back was a bow quiver with arrows in it too. She looked deadly serious, but very concerned. Then she said

“Mela, what are you doing out in the forest? You know that you’re not allowed in the forest at ALL.”

“Wait a second, where the hell am I?”

“Fantasy, where do you think you are. And don't you remember you are not allowed to curse?” This time she sounded really concerned. Then she kneeled down beside me, and put her hand on my shoulder.

“Sorry, I know I am not home, but who are you?”

“Wait you don’t know who I am, or where you are?”

“Not really- wait you’re Mena, right?” This strange place started to become very familiar.  It felt like my home, my real home. A place I never had, see my parents have been fighting, and were supposed to be getting divorced so I avoided going home as much as possible. Also, my friend Sarah is being ridiculously mean and spreading rumors about me so you can see where I’m at. My only happy time is in the forest, at track, or running through the park.

“Yeah, now we better get you back home. They could arrive at any moment.”

“Who could arrive? Hey, wait up!”  She stood up and walked away; I ran after her till she stopped in front of a huge log cabin style castle that had to be at least three stories tall. It was brown with a flat roof; on each of the corners was a short tower. In the center was a wide tall tower, and on top was a star gazing dome. Until now I forgot my love for space, I guess I got caught up in what’s cool and who’s popular in school. Then, Mena asked me if I remembered it.

            “Yeah, it’s amazing. Wow.”

“Yea-just, we better inside I sense something happened to the castle. Also, they are probably spying on us at this moment.” Mena was getting strangely fidgety, looking around like we were going to get attacked. Then she pulled a dagger out of her leather boot. The golden hilt had encrusted rubies all over it with a shiny silver blade

“Listen to me! Who is watching; who could arrive?” I was getting really frustrated.

“I’ll explain soon, I promise.” Mena was right, the- well I think it is throne room is destroyed. I was in tears, while I was in tears everything came back to me. I remember the day I got my bow and quiver (once my archery teacher didn’t think I’d kill anyone by accident), my coronation of becoming princess(I know most times you aren’t crowned princess) , and the day I got my star gazing dome. I remembered who I really was: Mela the Fall Enchantress Nymph Princess (I know such a long name.)

“What a shame, I know. I will go get your parents to explain everything, it wouldn’t be right for me to tell you. Adam!”

            “Adam, he’s the royal guard-right?”

“Yes, he’s so adorable- ah never mind!” Then the guard came in dressed in silver armor, with a picture of a tree on it. The Tree of Life. I saw him whisper something in Mena’s ear, she giggled I can tell she liked him. Then her smile was gone, and her grey eyes lost their sparkle. I had heard the guard say something like “poor kid.”

“Mela, I am sorry. Your nymph parents are handling some problems, they asked me to tell you everything you didn’t already know.”

“Ok, will I see them soon?”

“Yes at dinner, and they will tell you the big news.” Then, she told me everything I forgot. Like, nymphs age ten years faster than humans, so I would be- am twenty-five years old! And there are four groups of good nymphs: Fall, Spring, Summer, and Winter. As you can guess, I am a Fall nymph.  Also, that you’re not allowed in the forest at all because of the creatures that are huge mutant black bears with beady-glowing red eyes. Sent by the evil nymphs, and that there are two worlds Reality and Fantasy; the former world I was in is Reality and this world is Fantasy. It’s not a fantasy yet; I’m still waiting for something to happen that’s good. I really missed this world I don’t know how I managed to survive. But the news that really shocked me was at dinner.…
