The rest of the day went by slowly. I spent my time wandering around the woods, not looking for anything in particular. Well, I guess I was looking for something. That odd looking tree. I saw it out of the corner of my eye a lot, but when I turned to look, it wouldn't be there. I was probably just paranoid.
Nothing really happened at all. That is, until it started to get dark. When the sun went down just enough to cast dark shadows all over the forest, I began to hear it. Every couple seconds, I'd hear a small tic from somewhere nearby. Then, with every tic, it got closer. Another boy around my age stepped from the bushes in front of me. He wore a brown striped hoodie, a brown striped mask covering his mouth, and orange goggles. He wore a belt with a hatchet on each side of his waist. And every couple seconds he would tic.
"Let me guess" I said "You're here to fight me too."
"*tic* Indeed I am." he told me "My na*tic*me is Ticci Toby. *tic* As you can probably t*tic*tell, I h*tic*ave Tourettes. Slender sent me as *tic*another combat tes*tic*t."
"Well, then, I won't go easy on you." I said "Play with fire and you'll get burned." He laughed and expertly swiped his two hatches from his sides. I sprung forward with claws at the ready. He dodged a little too late and I made a deep scratch down his right arm. He pretended not to notice as he lunged toward me with his hatchets. I leaped out of the way and he slammed into the tree that was behind me.
"Wow" I said "You're even easier to fight than that Jeff guy! And that's saying something." Toby growled and took a swing at me. This time, I was too late and his hatchet connected with my side. I yelled in pain from the deep gash now in my side. I took a step back, pondering my next move, but without hesitation, he tried for a finishing blow. I dove between his legs and forcefully shoved him face first against a tree. He accidentally dropped one hatchet and before he could move, I kicked the other from his hand and it fell to the ground a few feet away. My sharp claws were to his neck as he turned around, grinning.
"You're good." He said to me.
"Guess I have to be to beat you." He smiled and I stepped back, but I still kept my claws up and ready. Toby picked up both of his hatchets and turned to face me.
"Get some rest tonight." He said "I'm pretty sure Laughing Jack's coming in the morning. By the way, I really hope you don't get killed at all. You seem pretty cool. It'd be good to have you in the family." At that he ran off, and I was again left alone in the woods.
After tending to my wound on my side, I found a good tree to spend the night in. One that looked normal. One that wasn't Slenderman. I curled up and closed my eyes. Within a couple seconds, I was fast asleep.
