---"And where do you think your going?"
Scarlett's voice stops me as I'm about to make a mad dash out the door. Since I fell asleep during class - what's new?, Scarlett had to wake me up when the bell rang. I woke up to an empty classroom, only Scarlett and the ol' bat. And myself.
I slowly turn around, giving her my 'duh' face. "To eat? Because I'm hungry? And its lunchtime?"
She didn't appreciate my tone or my face, "no shit, captain obvious."
She grabs her bag and makes her way to where I stood, by the door. Scarlett waves a quick bye at the ol' bat while I waved my birdie.
I went back inside to get my detention slip.
"That was mean, Saph. Respect your elders," Scarlett says when I stuffed the slip inside my bag.
I roll my eyes, "yeah whatever."
I respect the elderly very much, it's just this one granny that acts like a teen, so I gotta treat her like one. Poor ol' Scarlett is innocent from the real ol' bat and her ways.
I try to walk ahead of her but the she-man latches onto my arm, holding me in place. It's like trying to pry off a boulder.
"Where you going?" She asks, again. "I know. Your going to eat. But last time I checked, the cafeteria is the other way."
My brows furrow in confusion. "Yeah, and so is the office. We done here?"
"Saph!" She snaps. I fight an eye roll, "every step of the way? Remember that?"
"I don't have short term memory, Scarlett."
But I do have an angry stomach, I finish bitterly in my head.
"Then where are you going?" Not this question again! "If your gonna be there every step of the way, then that means every possible step."
Where is she getting at? Every possible step?
Scarlett suddenly throws her hands in the air and mutters something under her breath before making eye contact with me again. "You have to eat with us in the cafeteria."
It takes a while for her words to register in my head, and when it does, I busted out laughing. She releases her grip on my arm and I use that hand to slap my thigh as I laughed my ass off.
Me? An outcast? Eat with them? Oh, my dear big sister. What a foo - my laughter is cut short when I notice that Scarlett has not cracked a smile. She just stood in the middle of the hall with her arms folded across her chest, and scowl decorating her features.
She's--
"Your serious?!" I emphasize the last word, my eyes as big as saucers. She's serious?!
Scarlett nods her head, "of course I am! Now quit stalling, we've already wasted ten minutes."
She turns around and begins walking in the direction of the cafeteria, all while expecting me to follow. Yeah no.
Sensing that I wasn't following her, Scarlett whips back around her scowl still in place.
"Did you really think that I'll follow you like that?" I snap my fingers.
Scarlett lets out a heavy sigh, her gaze softening by a bit. "Saph, in order for this to work, I'm gonna need all of you guys. And that includes you, Tiger."
Well fuck me. If I knew my little speech was gonna land me a seat at the cafeteria with the 'populars' then I would've thought TWICE before opening my mouth. No more encouraging speeches for me.
